Hughes Comes Through Again

Tim Hughes brings his fifth studio album to the table alongside friends to help him write and sing. Thus, the expectations are set very high. Not only does this project beat expectations, it soars above them.

There are indescribable moments during a worship service that make you come alive with an undeniable love for Jesus Christ. "Pocketful Of Faith" peels away the layers to provide endless moments of vulnerable worship to a Creator that are as undeniably genuine as the raw talent Tim Hughes displays with this album.

"Here With Me" sets the stage for an album of many featured guests with the added vocals of Phil Wickham. The two vocalists' styles blend beautifully together in a song that makes you want to stand on your feet in worship. "Only The Brave" is a fight song that might cause you to sing along, tap your toes and maybe even pump your fists.

"Pocketful Of Faith" takes another step in the direction of vulnerability. With each piano keystroke through the song's progression comes the compulsion of an honest heart. "Symphony" paints a picture of unity, while "Set Apart" slowly sketches how great and glorious our one true God is compared to other gods.

"Plans" comes from stage right, bringing with it a hopeful future within the encouraging range of varied vocals. "Arms" wraps itself around your heart with meaningful lyrics and a gorgeous score. "Sky High" reaches the tips of a sacred moment, where there is no roof when you extend your fingers out in praise.

"The Cross Stands," in a light of its own, ignites commemorative worship. "The Way" takes you down a path of admiration. "Hope And Glory" dims pride by rooting its musical notes in an honest bow to heaven. "Hallelujah" finishes the album with humble chords, playing upon a satisfied gaze directed up to an incomparable throne above.

Closing Thoughts:
You may dismiss Pocketful Of Faith as a generic worship album from the initial looks of it. However, once the play button is pushed, you may discover new light shed on the subject of faith. What really makes this album turn from a generic "good" to a genetic "great" is the true authenticity from Tim Hughes. Each song holds its own by way of honest lyrics and natural vocals.
