A Very Impressive Re-release| Posted April 04, 2011
Let’s go back in time for a moment, shall we? It’s July of 2010, and after a yearlong transition period, the Newsboys are anticipating the release of their 15th studio project, “Born Again”, aptly titled with Michael Tait from legendary group dc Talk as their new lead singer. The pressure to make a great album is always there for band who has had over 20 number #1 hits, but even more so when it’s your first album with a new lead vocalist. Longtime fans were on their toes awaiting to hear the redefined sound this band had developed, and some skeptics were ready to watch them crash and burn, but little did those skeptics know lie ahead for this talented group of guys. After debuting at #4 on the Billboard charts the week it released, above names such as Justin Bieber and Sting might I add (very impressive), Jeff, Jody, Duncan, and Michael of the Newsboys proved once more that they still had music to make --and lots of it.
Let’s come back to the present: two #1 radio hits and multiple sold out dates on the 2011 Winter Jam tour later, this band has proven it’s a force to be reckoned with in the industry. So it came as no surprise that after the rapid success of Born Again, that fans were already eager to hear more new music… enter in the 2011 re-release of Born Again: Miracles Edition.
This re-release features 11 songs off the original version of the album (my review of which can be found HERE: http://bit.ly/aiAME8), but highlights 5 new songs released previously as “iTunes Only”, four new remixes, and one brand new track titled “Save Your Life.”
“Save Your Life”, which replaces the song “Impossible” on the original album version, is an upbeat and uplifting song with a danceable beat and a great message. It’s very reminiscent of early 90’s pop, but I think that’s what gives it such great appeal. It’s sure to become a fan favorite.
“We Remember”, the first of the five new tracks, is a worshipful song, penned by Mark Stuart of Audio Adrenaline fame. The lyrics of this song are sure to hit home and challenge the way people remember God, (“Your story burns upon our hearts, a beautiful and binding scar.”) “I’ll Be” is the most powerful of the new songs, taking the redemption theme this album and driving it home with the listener, while “Give Me To You” follows along the same worshipful lines as “We Remember”. “Glorious” will be a familiar track to longtime Newsboys fans, it being a song that was first recorded on their 2009 In The Hands Of God album, only this time, including the lead vocals of Michael Tait. This song suits Michael voice very well and, dare I say, might even sound better than the original…
The four new remixes on the album include a VERY 80’s-esq remix of “Born Again”, as well as a remix of “Miracles”, the “Way Beyond Myself (Flatline Mix)”, which many fans will remember voting for late last year in the band's remix competition, and the brilliant “Mighty To Save (Family Force 5 Remix)” --yes, you did read that correctly. Mixed by Soul Glow Activator (aka Solomon Olds) himself, this song doesn’t even sound remotely the same as the original, and while some worship purists won’t like the changes, I know fans will gravitate to it right away.
Included with the physical edition of this album is a free download of the band's new music video for the song “Miracles” (therefore making it the “Miracles Edition”), a great treat, although, I think most people will be sold on this album before the music video is even seen. Many of the five new songs sound very different than the “iTunes Only” versions released last year, making this something all hardcore fans will want to pick up for nostalgia sake, as well as to hear the changes.
Overall, this is still an amazing album and a very impressive re-release filled with something for everyone. Some are going to attack it simply because it is a re-release, but I don’t think it will phase anyone who is excited enough to hear these new songs, because they are all well worth the price of buying the album again. The only change I would have made would have been to include “Impossible” off the original album, seeing as it was a fantastic song and one many new fans might like to hear, but that aside, I love this new edition. I gave the original version of this album five stars, and these remixes as well as the new songs absolutely reaffirm that decision.
Yet again, this band has proved there is still more work to do and more music to make, and I know I speak for all Newsboys fans when I say, we look forward to hearing it.

I love Newsboys and I always have. I was excited to see the new album they released with Micheal Tait since Peter went on with a solo career. I must say this one definitely met my standards. I love Born Again as well as Light Up.

This Newsboys album is the best! Michael Tait was a great new addition. My favorite song from this album, besides Born Again, is Way Beyond Myself. I have this whole album :) Jeff rules! And so does Duncan, and Jody!
Give it a chance| Posted February 10, 2012
Okay so when I heard that Peter was leaving Newsboys, I was CRUSHED! I loved Peter so much and the band was so amazing! I was afraid that when someone took over that the badn would just fade out. I have grown up listening to Newsboys. I saw their album come out after Tait had joined and I was just thinking, "Eh." I hadn't even given them a chance! I just wrote it off as bad. Judgemental, I know! I was uspet about Peter leaving haha. well I went to a summer festival and newsboys was the headliner for that night. They got up and preformed, and just... WOW. I am still in awe of what I saw that night! It was so amazing and exciting! I bought the new cd from the merch table and listened to it every night for about six months straight. No matter how much I listen to this album, I can;t get enough!! It is so good! Very fresh. I'm glad Tait took over as the lead singer. He has brought a whole new element to the band. All the songs are songs that you could sing in the shower, on a Sunday morning, while your sleeping, anytime! Yes while you're sleeping. They have me so hooked. ;] I can't wait to see what else they do. It's obvious the future is so bright for them. This album could not get any better. They should be very proud of themselves. I am very thankful. They've outdone themselves. LISTEN TO THE CD EVERYBODY. You won't regret it.
One of the best!| Posted November 14, 2011

A Noteworthy Release| Posted November 11, 2011
I recieved a copy of the Born Again: Miracles Edition at the Uprise Festival in Shippensburg, Pa this past September. Now, let it be said that I have been a fan of the Newsboys since the days that Peter Furler was part of the band. Regardless, I was sad to hear that the Newsboys were breaking up a few years ago. Let it also be said that I have been a fan of dc Talk for a while too. I used to rock out to their Single "Jesus Freak" all the time. So it was sad to see that band fade away as well. Then, this past year, I attended Winter Jam in Reading, PA and was surprised to see Newsboys finishing off the night. What also surprised me was to see Michael Tait as the lead singer for the band! And let it be said, they put on quite a show!!
Now, the point of this lengthy intro was to explain that a majority of the song they preformed at Winter Jam came from their new album "Born Again". After the concert was over, I knew I had to get a hold of the album. Sadly, I did not have the opportunity to get a copy at the concert. It would be almost 6 months later until I had the opportunity to acquire a copy of the album. But the album I recieved was even better than I thought. I attended Uprise Festival in Shippensburg, PA where the Newsboys closed the concert again. As a promo, the band gave out free Born Again: Miracle Editon albums to the fans. So, I finally had my copy. And I was so greatful to get it too.
The album contains the content from the Born Again (Delux Edition) as well as some new remixes of favorites from the CD, including "Mighty to Save (Family Force 5 Remix). One favorite of mine is "When the Boys Light Up", which tells the story of the band break up and its reforming.
All in all, Born Again: Miracles Edition contains upbeat and uplifting music that everyone can enjoy. The Newsboys, old and new still stick to the main purpose of bringing glory to the Creator.
So So| Posted May 06, 2011
This release is kind of a mixed bag. The diehard fans have probably purchased this release already, so the presentation of this new edition in some ways seems like the music companies attempting to get their most committed fans to "re-purchase" this release which in many ways seems like a negative thing.
For anyone who hasn't purchased the original release and really likes the band, this would probably be a good purchase.
I don't care much for the Newsboys since Tait has taken over vocals so the addition of extra songs he performs on was not very exciting. After listening to the 2nd CD none of the songs really grabbed my attention. The remixes are "ok" but nothing groundbreaking, especially compared to some of the remixes that have been done for "Plumb". The Newsboys really deserve better and stronger remix tracks.

Each song on the album progresses from a rock hard beat, to a soft song of praise or pain. I was immediately hooked to Newsboy's new sound from the first few songs on the album. Every song is a surprise, the lyrics are very revelant and up to date with this generation.
