Todd Agnew continues to showcase his poignant songwriting skills with Better Questions. This project takes the listener on a very deliberate journey, wrestling with the idea that our questioning does not minimize our experience of God, but rather enhances our relationship with Him. It is sonically more eclectic than anything Todd has done, but still carries his signature style. Featuring epic songs like "Peace On Earth," asking whether or not it's possible for mankind to live in harmony, "Martyr's Song," focusing on what happens when we die and "Still Has A Hold," which contemplates how God can hold on to us even when we can't hold on to Him. These songs drive us to our knees before an impossibly unknowable God who made Himself known to us.

I'm with Bill on this one. I don't understand the comment about Todd Agnew not having evolved. If you own the CD, give it another listen and really focus in on the messages. This is Todd's most challenging release. If you liked "My Jesus" from his last CD, you'll love this CD. The standout songs are "Our Great God", "Lovers in our Heads", "Martyr's Song" and "On A Corner in Memphis". Very few releases have this level of bare honesty and self-reflection. Top 10 of 2007 in my opinion.
Better Questions?| Posted December 23, 2009
On that other, lesser-known, not-as-good, non-Christian, social networking site, I posted the same blogs that I have posted on here over the last couple of days. And if you looked at the blogs on that site, you'd see that I've been listening to Todd Agnew's new CD, "Better Questions" lately. Historically, I've not been a huge TA fan. He's got a couple of good songs out there but nothing that really grabbed my attention. This CD is different. This CD is reallllly good! And one song in particular gets right down to the root of the issue - it's called, "If You Wanted Me". In a nutshell, Todd asks out loud what we often wish we could ask God - and receive an answer. Here are the words...
I'll admit I'm glad we're not disciples, Out on a lake paralyzed with fright. 'Cause I'm afraid I might have laughed at Peter, Until he stepped out into that stormy night.
If You wanted me to walk on water, Why'd You make the solid ground seem so right?
I'll admit I'm glad I'm not King David, Ruling over everything I see. 'Cause I think I've fallen for more than Bathsheba, your creation's a temptation for me.
If You wanted me to love You only, Why'd You make the moonlight sparkle in her eyes?
I'll admit I'm glad I'm not John the Baptist, In a jail cell waiting for my day to die. 'Cause at least down here I know what we're chasing, And it's hard to trust Your dreams are so much better than mine.
If You wanted me to die to myself, Why'd You make me fall so deeply in love with life?
If You wanted me to surrender, Why'd You make these hands able to hold on so tight?
And if You wanted me to be like You, Why'd You make me like me?
Better questions? Better songs! If you haven't picked this one up yet, it's definitely worth the listen...
love this album| Posted November 28, 2009
i first heard about this album here at nrt. i actually got the t-shirt as a prize from here. i loved it and it got me to listen to the album. it's a very thought provoking album. it brings up many questions that people like to avoid. i love things that force me to think - to re-evaluate why i have a certain view. these things challenge me. i really like that.
i've got the songs from this album one at a time but it is an album that i've continued to remember when i have credit to buy a song or 2. i've actually gone out of my way to get these songs.

This is the first cd of Agnew's thjat I have heard and I really liked it. The dude can sing and the songs have good messages in them. Sometimes I think alot of christian artist slip away from the primary objective of what their music is supposed to be about. That's giving glory and honor to god in some way that will speak to people and their situations.
good cd~| Posted November 07, 2008

WARNING: this is not your tipical todd agnew album. This is unlike anything I have ever heard. It is a rather odd combination of songs. Todd can sing realy low.

Todd Agnew's music has always been deep and makes you think. Better Questions just continues that. He asks many important questions we should be asking as Christians. Thumbs up to Todd.
