not great | Posted August 29, 2007
Everyone has to start somewhere, and for Todd Agnew it was Grace like rain, a praise and worship album.

Grace like rain is by no means incredible, most of Todd Agnew's tunes are simple and don't have a lot of depth. Most of his songs are light worship songs, like "come all ye sinners", "shepherd", and "you are" to name a few. "Reached down" and "Romans 12:1" are more up beat, but the tone of the album is soft. The singles "this fragile breath" and "grace like rain" are the best form this CD.

The message of the album is that we are sinners and we all need forgiveness and a savior. That is great, but Todd Agnew breaks it down into most of his songs, leaving those songs a little weak. But other than that the lyrics are solid, but nothing amazing like Todd does on other albums.

Todd Agnew's songs are generally not fantastic sounding in terms of music, but his lyrics are. In Grace like rain neither are impressive

A Good Buy With Variety | Posted May 14, 2009
What makes Todd Agnew original? Well, to be honest, he isn't really. But that doesn't mean his debut on Ardent Records is something to avoid. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Yes, it's really nothing new. Todd Agnew takes things to a new level. With his inclusion of rock and a strong voice, this guy can appeal to a vast audience.

Take the song "This Fragile Breath." It gets play on a range of stations scaling from Christian rock all the way to the opposite end, Christian adult contemporary. The song is aggressive enough to pass on rock stations, though tender enough for AC.

In fact, Todd Agnew's voice sounds very much like that of Alex Band's of The Calling. Agnew's voice also resembles that of Jason Wade from Lifehouse. But you get the idea - deep, strong, and passionate vocals. But Agnew has a southern flare to his voice that puts an interesting spin on things. Lyrically, Agnew speaks of the love and grace of God on all of the twelve tracks of Grace Like Rain and it's pretty solid. He admits on "Still Here Waiting," "I'm surrounded by the very thing You freed me from"/ And adds, "I don't know where I turned around from chasing what I always found completed me… And You always met with me, and You're still here waiting." On the aforementioned "This Fragile Breath," he says, "You speak with thunder and lightning. Your voice shakes the mountains, the foundations of the earth. All I can offer is this fragile breath. With each one I'll praise You."

Todd Agnew does it right. If he can continue to appeal to the large audience he is now, he'll become one of the big names in CCM. Look for his name when the Dove Awards come around. Until then, enjoy this worship/contempory/rock/just-about-everything-else blend that Todd Agnew has concocted. It's a winner that can be recommended to just about anyone.

This cd is realy cool! | Posted February 22, 2009
This is Todd Agnew's first album which contains the awesome hits "Grace Like Rain" and "This Fragile Breath". This man has a true worshipper's heart and you can sense that in his songs. "Romans 12:1" is also another favorite on this album, a great worship song for church. I was fortunate to go to one of his concerts a few years ago. We had a wonderful worship service that night. He took random requests from people which is rare in most of the concerts I have ever been to. This man is the real deal.

Agnew Debut is Powerful | Posted October 29, 2008
This has to be in anyones collection. It is a great album with powerfully written lyrics. Agnew has a unique voice and you easily recognize his voice. He has an awesome reworking of the song Amazing Grace into the song "Grace Like Rain." The first time I heard he redid the song i was wondering what he was thinking by redoing such a classic song but after hearing his version I was speechless it was good. Also the songs "This Fragile Breath" and "Romans 12:1" are very powerful songs. This is a must have CD.

His first project continues to be my favorite | Posted February 25, 2008
When this album came out i thought todd agnew would end up being the next big thing. "Grace Like Rain" is a great cd. It has great lyrics/catchy beat/and he has a very unique voice that not to many artist can match. The title track continues to be my favorite song on the album but "reached down" "Lay It Down" and "This Fragile Breath" are worth mentioning too. His other albums are ok, but for me they lack what his first project had.

Bought this today... | Posted September 20, 2007
not sure what it would be like...but it turned out pretty good. I really just bought it cause I heard the song "Grace Like Rain" in my college and career group at church and loved it. Good CD...that song is one of my favorites. Its simple, yet it stirs up something in you helping you feel just how much God's grace can bless your life when you give it over to Him.
