A Legacy of Authentic Praise| Posted August 09, 2017
Beginning with the first Planetshakers Conference in 1997, the Australian worship band has continued to unite countries and generations in praise for two decades now. With hearts set on seeing people transformed by encounters with Christ, Planetshakers have travelled across the world sharing their songs and worshipping together.
Following the release of their spring EP Legacy Part 1: Alive Again, the Legacy Part 2: Passion EP was recorded live in Melbourne, with the full Legacy CD/DVD set to release later this year.
Infused with the special energy that only live recordings contain, the lively title track "Passion" opens the EP with near-tangible joy and excitement: "You have it, my passion, my praises, always / I give You my passion, my praises, always / I give You all of me." Flowing nicely into the next track, "Prophesy" continues the theme of energetic praise with bold lyrics and a melody to make you dance.
Two lengthy recordings, "We Speak Life" and "You Call Me Beautiful," close the EP with powerful lyrical declarations of faith. Though both of these are close to the ten-minute mark in time, they never feel forced and keep the listener captivated in authentic worship throughout the whole track.
As someone who listens to a lot of worship music, I can honestly say that this EP is one of the most genuine-feeling expressions of praise I've heard in a long time. What it lacks in track length, it more than makes up for in lyrical depth, engaging vocals and powerful worship moments captured in their live setting.
The Bottom Line: In a season where worship albums seem to be multiplying faster than listeners can consume them, the Legacy Part 2: Passion EP is one you don't want to let pass you by.
