The album is made up of 13 powerful tracks and is executive produced by BoX. It features Dre Murray as well as Corey’s mother, who gives the chilling intro to the story before he expounds on his journey.
"My father was a dope fiend who committed suicide when I was 9 years old, but my pain gave me a purpose,” Corey says about the story of Trill Young King. "I struggled for years to find out what my purpose was, and I found it. I’m a kid from the hood that made it out, so you probably think you’ve heard my story. You haven’t. Trill Young King starts in a dark place before my birth and ends in a bright future with new birth."
The Houston rapper previously released the singles “Pipe Dreams” and “Seventeen,” which helped build the hype for Trill Young King. “Pipe Dreams” was featured on Rude Girl Radio Volume 2, curated by Atlanta’s DJ RootsQueen and Digital Dope. Since its July release, the single has amassed more than 100,000 streams. “Seventeen” was the first song off the album to get the visual treatment and shows Corey rapping on an abandoned train while his friend goes through a typical day in Houston. Both songs are available as instant downloads upon pre-order.
