The unexpected has a way of creeping up on us. In just a few months time, I was faced with multiple unexpected situations that gave me the opportunity to decide what I was really going to believe and where I was really going to place my faith. Unexpected conflict with close friends, opposition to our purpose, the loss of my dad to cancer, and then the diagnosis of cancer in my mom just one week after we buried my dad seemed like almost too much. The gravity of doubt and fear weighed on me and I wondered if I would live my life in defeat. Then, Holy Spirit whispered to me, "Kat, you're an overcomer. Take your place." A sweet reminder of my nature because of the triumphant nature of the Father was the ground that "It's Finished" was written from. It was a song written to help me believe that I am who He says I am and He is who He says He is. He is a good, loving Father that has made us His heirs. He has empowered us through Holy Spirit to rise victorious no matter what obstacles we face. We don't have to strive. We don't have to worry. We can stand confident in the finished work of Jesus. This is our declaration.
