Aurora -- composed of sisters Racquel, Rachel, and Lauren Smith -- released their sophomore album, Bigger Than Us, in October of 2001. The Pamplin Records project blends danceable pop with tight family harmonies. The album's tracks range from the upbeat dance cut "Shout," which features techno rhythms, to the praise & worship cut "Rekindle the Flame," a song bearing world music influences. Produced by Chris Omartian and John and Dino Elefante, the project is best defined as pop similar to that of fellow CCM artists Stacie Orrico and Plus One.
According to an interview with their label, the Georgia-born threesome seeks to use this album to remind "ourselves, not just our fans, that God is bigger than us, bigger than the problems that surround us or the things that bother us." In addition, they aim to use the ten cuts to encourage their fan base, which predominately consists of preteen and teen girls, to pursue emotional purity in addition to physical purity. Oldest sibling Lauren states, "A lot of our fans are in sixth and seventh grade, at an age where you're really impressionable...you may not have a sense of yourself yet at that age -- what you are going to end up being or doing. We want to encourage kids to resist the temptation of looking for themselves in a crowd -- instead, find yourself in God." Bigger Than Us not only serves to further the musical direction and ministry of Aurora, but to offer a CCM alternative to mainstream artists such as Britney Spears.

although I haven't listened to the whole cd, I heard one of the songs on the radio and it really stood out to me- it the song "shout". I think buying the cd would be worth it for that song!

I loved "The Way that You Love Me" and a couple other songs, but some of the lyrics for some of the other songs are a little strange...
