My third solo worship project, Soulspeak is a collection of 12 originals and a couple of covers. The recurring theme in lots of the music is my investigation into the soul, and how it connects us with and compels us toward the Lord and His Kingdom. This CD is notable (to me at least) because it's the first time I've done a project entirely at my studio. In the past, we've always used other studios/engineers/producers for stuff like drum tracking and mixing, among other things. This time was different. Other than mastering and a couple of over-dub things, this one was all us (by us, I mean me and my studio partner, Keith Sewell). As a result, it's got a bit more of a raw and non-slick sound, but I think it's cool, especially in light of the way that we arranged and produced it. This record features my good friends (and long-time bandmates) Andy Crawley (drums, vocals) and Brady Redwine (keys, etc), along with Nathan Kawaller (bass), who traveled with me for about a year and a half, before he got married and moved. In addition, the record has great musicianship from Jeff Moore and Joe Degelia (electrics), John Sherrill (piano), and Josh Smith (strings). Highlight songs include "Glorified in Me," "This is Love," and "Found in You," in addition to a cool rendition of "My Jesus I Love Thee" (sung by my wife) and a couple of re-recordings of older songs.
