Everything All At Once Review | Posted November 17, 2020
What You Need To Know
Weathered is an alternative rock band with midwest and emo music vibes. They are a unique, yet overlooked band. Their debut album, Stranger Here, showcased their signature style. Their new sophomore album, Everything All At Once, gives listeners the best the band has to offer, so far.

What It Sounds Like
Weathered's sound is distinct, especially in the Christian-based music scene. They have a blend of captivating, lengthy rock, as well as instrumental transitions contrasted with soft and poignant vocals. Everything All At Once is unpredictable and diverse, yet remains cohesive nonetheless.

Spiritual Highlights
There is wise and contemplative songwriting that is often reminiscent of the biblical Psalms and Proverbs. The opening song, "Mach 7" sets the mood well, with lead singer Justin Heib singing, "Lift up your voices/let them be not distorted/You plot our courses, let us be now escorted." The introspective songwriting opens up a lot of relatability for the song's simple, but deep, messages. There is no lack of depth, whether spiritually or otherwise, on this record.

Best Song
Weathered has created a great musical journey with Everything All At Once. As you listen from start to finish, you realize you've been listening to honest, relatable stories of life that weave hope throughout it all. I love the closing track, "Like The Sun" for its incredible way of pulling in the listener to a sea of music and melody. The first part of the song is gripping and musically unsurprising. The second part is a beautiful, extended, instrumental transition. The third part is an emotionally charged, hopeful message with Justinb singing, "I will find the way/to the center of the circle of my life." For something more upbeat, "Quick Tempered" might be your preference.

Bottom Line
Everything All At Once beautifully combines narrative songwriting and excellent musicianship to create a special listening experience. Weathered's music style might take a few listens to grow on you, especially if you're used to heavier music, but don't sleep on this band. The pacing of the songs might be hard to follow at times. But the pace is what adds to its unpredictability. Everything All At Once exemplifies Weathered's and musical growth and maturity well.
