As I was writing this song, I was thinking about determination and some of the hard things I went through where I had to make a choice; how am I going to respond? Am I going to let this affect me?
I thought about the times I talked to myself in the mirror, reminding myself to do the right thing the best way I knew how. Usually not perfectly, but we're always learning.
I don't want to glorify hard times or act like I've done it all right, but I'm not expecting or inviting more of them. My life is good and will only get better, but I wanted to share that important moment of choice in this song.
