Don't Get Comfortable [edit]
by Brandon Heath | Genre: Pop/Rock | Release Date: September 19, 2006

Brandon Heath's debut album Don't Get Comfortable speaks of the life God calls us to, a life that is marked by Christ-like transformation rather than complacency; a life that comes only through dying to yourself and serving others. Produced by Dan Muckala (Backstreet Boys, Nick Lachey, and The Afters) these songs bring a refreshing dose of worshipful pop-rock. Known first as a songwriter (Bebo Norman, Joy Williams, Phillip LaRue, Ben Glover, Jason Ingram, and Chad Cates), Brandon is embracing this next step in his career. "The melody, the swell of the music, the emotion, I was hooked by 3 years old. Growing up in Nashville, I was surrounded by the songwriting community. My plan, as a songwriter, was to write the songs and have someone else perform them; little did I know that was not God's plan."

Record Label: Reunion Records

Solid Debut for Dove Award Winner | Posted October 28, 2008
Brandon Heath followed in the footsteps of fellow Best New Artist Dove Award Winner Aaron Shust (2007) by winning the same award for 2008. Buoyed by the great success of the stand-out single I'm Not Who I Was, he followed the same singer-songwriter path as Aaron with his stand-out single My Savior, My God, which was also song of the year (2007). If you like Bebo Norman, Matthew West and Mat Kearney, then you should truly enjoy Brandon Heath.

Don't Get Comfortable is a very solid debut album and I've been enjoying it for a couple of years now. The first 2 songs Steady Now and Simple Man really showcase Brandon's autobiographical and catchy writing style. For me the whole album flows very nicely with a mix of worship songs like Our God Reigns and the last song Beauty Divine and in addition to the great I'm Not Who I Was, I also really enjoy the title track. If you like personal and challenging lyrics with nice melodies and the occasional R&B drumbeat, then you'll really like Brandon Heath.

Get Comfortable | Posted August 14, 2007

Reunion Records' latest addition is singer / songwriter and Nashville native Brandon Heath. As a Nashville native, and an insider, he polished his songwriting skills at the legendary Bluebird Café with comrades Bebo Norman, Philip LaRue and Ben Glover. Brandon has two indie releases under his belt and a slew of credits as writer for such artists as Joy Williams, Christopher Williams and the aforementioned Bebo Norman.

A self-avowed fan of artists Shawn Colvin, Sting and David Wilcox, Brandon's sound takes inspiration from these artists as well as fellow Nashvillians Ryan Adams and Josh Rouse. It goes without saying that Heath's songwriting is above average. He segues effortlessly from intimate, vertically oriented worship songs like "Our God Reigns" and " Beauty Divine" to horizontally relational gems like "Let's Make It Last" and "Simple Man." Many of his songs, while stylistically very different from Chris Rice's, brought the veteran singer / songwriter to mind.

The songs of Don't Get Comfortable cover the spectrum from sparse acoustic arrangements, featuring acoustic guitar or piano driven melodies, to slick, fully layered Top 40 fare. They are like favorite clothes: reassuring and comfortable. Brandon's music is mainstream without being stale or derivative. Don't Get Comfortable is a solid assortment of sanguine, heartening modern pop-rock and worship songs. If you enjoy fellow singing songwriters Matt Wertz, Caleb Rowden, and Jason Upton check out his debut.

He's worth checking out. I'm Not Who I was was a massive radio hit- and it had every right to be- honest lyrics and a cool backbeat- songs worth having: Don't Get Comfortable, I'm Not Who I was, Let's Make It Last

Outstanding Debut | Posted March 31, 2008
There is a new singer/songwriter on the CCM scene-Brandon Heath. Raised in Nashville but now residing in Houston, Brandon's music is excellent. His dedut CD is a must. With excellent songs such as "Simple Man", "Our God Reigns","Steady Now",as well as the title song to the CD,Brandon opens his heart to the Lord and his fans. I am sure everyone has heard the big hit off this CD,"I'm Not Who I Was". This is really a story of Brandon's life and how he got where he is now. My favorite song on the CD is
"Red Sky". This is a song of hope and a great future life. Brandon is an excellent performer as well. He plays all these songs in his show. He is funny and honest with the crowd. He will stay to meet all his fans after the show. All I can say is - don't get comfortable, get up and get this CD

I'm sorry, but no | Posted January 27, 2008
I just don't like him whatsoever. In fact, I've come to loathe "I'm Not Who I Was." Every time I hear it on the radio, I shut the radio off. And I don't really care that much for "Our God Reigns" either. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with those who do like Brandon, but if you ask me, then I'd tell you his CD is a stinking waste of money.

This is an incredible CD. I really hadn't heard much of Brandon Heath's stuff before. The only 2 songs I'd heard by him were "I'm Not Who I Was" and "Our God Reigns". and I heard his other songs weren't that great. but I listened to it, and I loved it! he's got a great voice, and great lyrics too.

Wow... | Posted October 16, 2007
I really didnt know what to expect when I saw him at Raise the Roof the other day, but man...awesome. He's a really nice guy too :) His lyrics are awesome...and the song Dont Get Comfortable is not only very catchy, but has a good meaning as well. I suggest getting this if you want to just chill out and listen to some good music.
