Great Christian Rock| Posted November 16, 2007
I really like this band and the style of this award-winning debut album. I have several friends who are not Christian and love Classic rock like Lynyrd Skynyrd and AC/DC and Decemberadio is a great introduction to how Christian music can really rock in that Classic rock style. Standout songs are "Love Found Me", "Drifter", "Least of These" and "Dangerous".

There are debut albums that blow your mind away and leave you begging for more. Others do everything good enough to get by and show potential for the future. We won't mention the other possibility but this self-titled debut is the second type. DecembeRadio have a classic southern rock vibe about them. They have the powerful riffs, the lead singer with a slight drawl to give it some flair, and the occasional guitar solo to propel the song forward. I think they could've used more guitar solos so long as they used them right in the context of the song as they are lacking here. There's also an arena rock anthem, 'Love Found Me', that would feel right at home on any Lynyrd Skynard disc. The choruses are downright catchy and fun to sing along with to the end. Ok, so we got that. What else do they bring to the table?
Well, they don't bring anything new. They just do what's been done before and put a faith based spin on the lyrics. There's no doubt the lyrics will hit home to many people as they are very honest and forthcoming. Anyone who's experienced hard times at the hand of addictions will relate to either the first song, 'Can't Hide', or 'Drifter'. The latter of which is a powerful song lead by acoustic guitar in which the lead character is looking for a home, or a place of safety, after being on the end of the rope. A lot of different people going through different situations can certainly relate and vocalist, Josh Reedy, is excellent at pouring emotion and passion into every note sung. With a lesser vocalist this band would struggle but thankfully they don't have to worry.
While they may not offer any new twist on the genre, they certainly stand out on their debut album. Thank Josh's vocals and passion for carrying the band to a level beyond generic. That being said, they still have a lot of work to do to make an impact in the industry. At some point they will need to think outside the box to stay relevant but for the time being this is a solid debut release and there's potential for so much more.
Gems of this album are: 'Love Found Me', 'Alright My Friend', 'Drifter'
Back in the day there were only a select few in Christian Rock music who took risks, broke down barriers, and blazed trails for those to follow; thereby becoming pioneers and, to some degree, icons. One of these "legends" was a professional guitarist named Dann Huff. His distinctive sound was a hallmark on many definitive albums of the 80's and 90's; just about anywhere a distinctive lick was played, his name was in the credits. He went on to found his own band, Giant, which was one of the first crossover bands.
"What," you may ask, "does this have to do with Decemberadio?" Everything. And nothing. When I first listened to these guys's self-titled debut I was floored. This album is an awesome, straight-ahead, heartland, arena-rock album in the tradition of Bon Jovi, CreedWhitesnake, etc. But from the opening track until the very end, something was tickling the back of this reviewer's mind. "Ah yes," it had been too many CDs and far too long since a high volume listen, but one cannot long forget a "defining" sound. The guys of Decemberadio picked up the baton of Dann Huff and Giant and take off on a tear.
Without sounding dated or nostalgic, this album is a pure arena-rock renaissance. Substantial, dominating electric guitars. Perfectly balanced elemental drum and bass. Tremendous vocal prowess. Strong songwriting. In your face lyrics. Polished production. And not one weak track. This album has it all! What a debut!
Red, Decyfer Down, Sevenglory and Seventh Day Slumber fans should tune in and turn it up! Here's to more hot "tunes" from this "cool" band.
DecembeRadio Rocks Its Debut| Posted September 10, 2008
DecembeRadio's self-titled album is a great album for anyone who is a fan of the genre Southern Rock. Being from the great state of Alabama, I was turned to Southern Rock from the first time I ever heard the song "Sweet Home Alabama".
And now there is a Christian band rocking to my favorite tune.
DRadio's first hit, "Drifter", is by far the big hit of the album. But make no mistake, there are other songs that make this album one of the very best I have ever heard. "Drifter" is a great song, my favorite on the album. If you haven't heard of it before, you either have been living under a rock for the past year or two OR you haven't listened to Christian music in a while. Radio stations have been playing this song over and over, and for good reason.
If "Drifter" is the only song you've ever heard of by DR, then try some of these out:
Album Opener "Can't Hide" gets the album out and rocking.
"Dangerous" comes next and is by far the loudest song on the entire album, therefore one of my favorites.
"Razor" has some great lyrics to it, and it seems good music doesn't hurt a song, either.
"Table" is just like "Razor", but the guitar in the song is just plain awesome-er. (Is that a word?)
Finally, "Least of These" is a great calmer song; and has the best lyrics in the entire album--listen to the entire song, through the big pause, and you'll get to hear the band's little instrumental freestyle session.
So, if you've been living under that rock, go out... find some money... and buy DecembeRadio's self-titled debut album. It will be one of the best albums you will ever listen to, if you're a fan of the Southern Rock genre or like Rock in general.

Like Southern Rock? Get this!| Posted May 19, 2008
There is finally a great Southern Rock band, and there name is Decemberadio. DRadio's first album has gained national attention, and it should. Most people went out and bought this album for the hit radio single "Drifter", but there is a WHOLE LOT MORE to the self-titled debut. "Dangerous", "Table", "Razor", and "The Least of These" pushed me over the edge. DR is now my new favorite band. After seeing them live with Nevertheless, I can't wait for their next album or their next tour!
