"Honest Heart was written to remind us that we can't treat our souls with Jesus like we do our homes with people. You know that moment when it’s about 30 minutes (or even less) before someone comes over, your home is not in an ideal condition to host company, and so you quickly spend that time running around cleaning and tidying faster than you ever have before.
This is usually the case for me, and it’s a loving thing to do — to want and to work to provide a clean and comforting atmosphere for guests. However, I think we can often carry this same mentality into our relationship with Jesus, and think that we have to “tidy up” our hearts or our lives before we can let Jesus in.
Friends, there is good news for us today. Not only does He already know the deepest corners of your heart, as Proverbs 15:11 tells us, but He invites you to come to Him as you are. No maintenance or redecorating required. Just letting Jesus into our lived-in, messy, and broken hearts, because when we do, He’s the one who, by His Holy Spirit, does the restructuring turning our messes into masterpieces and replacing our cracked foundations with the firm foundation of Himself." - Holly Halliwell
