Switchfoot followed up Christmas Day with their third mainstream release (sixth overall), Oh! Gravity. - a distinct stylistic departure from their previous projects. Noticeably edgier and glaringly more unbridled, Oh! Gravity twists and turns through twelve tracks that take the listener on a musical rollercoaster ride from the raucous title track to the ponderous "Yesterdays" to the Brit-pop "Burn Out Bright" and the softer and unpolished "Let Your Love Be Strong."
great album!| Posted April 09, 2008
I have to admit Switchfoot has never been that high of a band on my list, but Oh! Gravity definitely helped them become higher. This album has great lyrics and style throughout all the songs. My personal favorite songs are: "Faust, Midas, and Myself"; "Awakening"; "Burn Out Bright"; and "Let Your Love Be Strong"(honestly I wanted to keep on listing :P). There are only 3 songs on here I don't really like: "Dirty Second Hands", "Circles", and "Amateur Lovers". Otherwise I could listen to this album straight through with no problems. Definitely add this album to your collection, you won't regret it!

This album is different from Switchfoot's other album and at first took me by surprise. It took awhile for me to get used to the different sound, but after several times of listening, it grew on me. Switchfoot fuses their instruments together to accompany their rock songs, and while they aren't particularly radio friendly, Switchfoot has once again created a great album.

"Oh! Gravity.", what a random name for a CD xD
I love it! This CD is super good, like..WOW!!
I liked Switchfoot back then when I was into mainstream music, but THIS CD made me love them :D I seriously didn't know they were this good, and live even BETTER!!
I got this Album along with the "Nothing Is Sound" Album on my first concert with them, they ROCKED!! I'm telling you, Jon is something else.
Anyways, this CD is packed with both sour and sweet songs. Sour as hyper-active guitar strumming/tabbing and Sweet as mellow acoustics. If you ever plan to get one of their CDs, get THIS one, it's the best out of all their other ones in my opinion. Love love love love their song "Awakening", it's all good ;)
Oh! Gravity Doesn't Fall.| Posted June 04, 2008
Yes, I used a lame pun for a title, bite me...actually don't, that might hurt. Anyway, Oh! Gravity followed Nothing is Sound shortly after it's release. O.G. cannot be put in a genre because there are numerous different sounds featured on this album in which instruments unconventional to the "Rock" genre are used.
This album just continues to show Switchfoot's ever-growing musical style.
So good. Nuff said.| Posted June 29, 2012
So, this is a unique album in the Swicthfoot collection. It has somewhat of a Beatles vibe to it (more than any other albums). My favorite songs are Let Your Love Be Strong, Head Over Heels, and Awakening.
Unique album!| Posted July 21, 2009
Oh Gravity! is very unique album because of how different the songs are when compared side by side. Even though Switchfoot's music isnt exclusively a single genre, this album further proves this point. This album is in my opinion their best album so far.
Oh! Please..........| Posted December 12, 2008
UH.....
first off I read the rules and I have come to this understanding, and if I've misunderstood something, please let me know and I'll correct it immediately.
1. I am allowed to FREELY state my opinion of this cd.
and
2. I am entitled to my opinion and no one else has to agree, but it is my job to TRUELY tell people why I do or DO NOT like this cd.
moving on...
I am warning you now I am going to be VERY VERY VERY BLUNT!
okay, I warned you!
This cd is really bad!!! I will admit I really like Switchfoot and their music, but PLEASE I don'ty even wanna own this cd because the cover itself hurts my testimony.
As an ex-gangster, ex-reberl, and ex-druggie, it would do me no good to talk to my "Brothers" about their skull parafanallia(I know I spelled that wrong!), yet for me to own a "Christian" cd with skulls on the cover and songs about "Keeping company outside the licor store" (Oh! Gravity) Antonio (a current gangster friend) told me "it sounds like they're ready to case the joint not do some Godly thing, and we all know no CHRISTIANS (with an air of sarcasm) don't drink." It's music and cds like this that are tellin ghim faith is a joke and I'm with him on this one!
So, though I really like switchfoot music, and happily own other cds, I would never recommend or own this CD. To me it gives off a hypocritical impression. Now I know ya'll are gonna argue that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but this is a CD.
I'm just saying God should look more inviting and appealing. If God looked just like the other bad stuff out there, people like me and my "brothers" wouldn't have wanted Him. When we want to change, we want something new, not the same old stuff we're leaving behind. That's my personal opinion and I'm sorry if it offends anyone., but I just cannot believe people are trying to offer me the same kind of stuff I'm trying to leave behind! This stuff does not attract me to God it turns me off! Sheesh people!!! I wouldn't hand pout beer and say "Jesus saves".The Bible says if a man is thirsty give him a drink.(but I'm sure it doesn't mean that kind!)
All I'm saying is if you want to reach the lost, give them something different than the stuff that buried 'em. If you have a map that's drawn wrong, you'll never find your way, even if someone gives a new map just like it. Do you know what I mean???
FIRST IMPRESSIONS COUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and that CD left a bad one with me. (I was furious when a certain radio station started to play "Oh! Gravity" so I complained. I wasn't alone either and they wound up pulling it from their playlist, for good reason. I know the lyrics because I saw a performance of this song on TV and I had the closed captions on! It was appaling!! I ran these lyrics past a few of my teachers and some adults I trusted, too. They felt the same as me. I am now turned off this album and I refuse to hear any more music from it. I hope the guys learn something from this and do a better job next time.
That's my stand and God wants me to hold to it. I also have one other reason and this is for you parents out there... as a parent would you want your child(ren) having music with those kind of graphics an lyrics? I have a young impressionable son to look out for and that CD will not help him any.

i really don't like this cd... it really sucks. They don't like ever mention God in their music at all,and they said themselves they don't consider their band to be Christian anymore.... For me , They've turned out ot be a major disappointment

Switchfoot is probably the band every christian musician would look up to. Not only for their strong messages but for their great success in the world. Switchfoot is a band name we've ALL herd weather christian or not. This inspires most musicians as to see that maybe christan artist can be a big hit in this sterotypical world. A definetly great band.
