Great White Whale [edit]
by Secret and Whisper | Genre: Pop/Rock | Release Date: February 12, 2008

Individualistic, yet somehow familiar. A sound that is painstakingly accurate in its defiance of classification. Haunting, Epic, and fast-paced with consistent, larger-than-life melody. It is as hungry as it is heavy, but it is definitely not screamo, metalcore, or active rock in the least. Each track is intricate in composition, yet not distractingly so. The result sounds as if it was made by seasoned artists who have not lost their hearts throughout their many seasons. You can expect faithful, insightful, honest words from Great White Whale, which will undoubtedly appeal to those in isolated scenarios, needing a word or a note or a picture conveying that all is not lost.

Secret and Whisper's debut album, Great White Whale, is a very unique rock album.  It combines a mix of hard rock and emo rock with an almost ambient magical undertone throughout.  It's this fantastical element that is the sheer highlight of the album.  Charles Furney's amazing voice and almost dreamlike lyrics contribute to the magical element very well.

Great White Whale is a very unique rock album that is made by a band that has found their identity early.  A stellar debut.

This is the most unique album i have ever heard! Secret and Whisper is a band with a successful future if they keep it up. Every song is my favorite because of how much effort they put into them. I cant wait till their next album. Great job guys!!

I can't not love this CD! | Posted December 01, 2008
I noticed some reviews that weren't real in favor of this band, but I really think differently about this band. For their first album, I think it's pretty stinking amazing. I was commmenting on their song "The Actress" and how they seemed to sing things that are a command or I suppose something you wouldn't normally sing. Their lyrics are very cryptic and mysterious and I think that makes the album all the more intriguing. Their music and guitars are amazing and I haven't heard much that sounds like them. Their singer is awesome with his high howling pitches and eerie cries. I definately recommend a listen for this album. XOXOXOXO is definately a great song, too. Give it a shot, there is no disappointment here...

Poetic and Inventive | Posted September 25, 2008
For this to be the debut cd from these guys,I can't wait to hear what they sound like on the next cd!They remind me of Anberlin and Thrice. They are sure to please fans of various genres of music, because their style is so diverse. The lyrics are full of imagery and metaphor, which makes their songs even more interesting!I love this cd! My favorite songs are:XOXOXO,Spider Besider,Attacker, and You Are Familiar.

(still an awesome cd though)

I'm a huge Tooth and Nail fan. I listen to probably half of the artists on the label. I was really excited and looking forward to this album. When I finally got it, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. It's still pretty good but not quite what I was expecting it to be.

good | Posted April 09, 2008
this cd has a great sound to it. the lead vocalist has a very interesting and unique voice. the guitars are awesome. however, the lyrics aren't extremly well-written (to me anyways). and i dont see how they refer to God.

Good Sound | Posted February 12, 2008
This CD is pretty impressive. To me, it sounds like a mix between the bands Spoken and Falling Up with its style halfway between the two. I cheked out several songs from their website to give it a good listen. However, I can't grasp the concept behind their lyrics. I suppose it's their own artistic style. This CD sounds good but I need more from the song content to add it to my library.
