Paul's first album as a solo artist utilized the considerable talents of Melbourne band and friends Bodymotors as backing musicians and saw Paul working closely with guitarist/engineer/producer David Carr. The Band Thing took two years to record and Paul worked on it on days off when he was a school teacher in Melbourne. Highlights include "Dark," "In This Garden," "The Reunion," and the original recording of "Fill My Cup."
