Michael W. Smith laid the foundation for his career back in the mid-1980s with a strong appeal and focus on the youth of America. Perhaps it should surprise few that this latest release, This Is Your Time, appears headed in that direction. Whether it's the return to Smitty's keyboard-driven, high-energy pop (thanks to coproducer Bryan Lenox, who also worked on Smith's Go West Young Man) or the lyrical preoccupation with young people finding their way in a troubled world, the release takes a page from some previous glories. The title track is the most gripping, a moving tribute to those students slain at the Columbine High School tragedy. Some of Smitty's best work here comes in the quieter pieces, such as "I Will Be Your Friend," "She Walks with Me," and "Anna." And again, he can rev it up with the anthemic "Hey You It's Me" and "I Still Have the Dream." But other than the pensive "Everybody Free," we see few signs of the mature and seasoned songwriting from the magnificent Live the Life release. One has to wonder why Smitty broke off the path to brilliance.

If I tell you that my dad loved This is your time (Reprise) and is still his ringing tone on his cell up to now! I loved this album as well. A lot of my work colleagues would request for the album after listening to the latter. I did shock them when I told them that this was gospel saved music. God bless you MWS you have managed to make God be glorified by many through your music. Here in Zimbabwe we do love you.

I didn't connect with this release as much as I did with many of MWS earlier releases. I still haven't been able to put my finger precisely on what seems to be lacking. The album has many good elements, but just wasn't something I really found myself wanting to listen to. I can't really think of a track that stood out necessarily.
live every moment, leave nothing to chance...| Posted October 12, 2009
this is just a reminder to me how precious life truly is, and not to just sit around, but "live every moment", and "leave nothing to chance." one day when we are gone, people are going to remember us for what we did or didn't do. it was kind of a wake-up call to me to really think about my life more, and about what i'd want others to remember me for.

This album from Michael W. Smith is Great! Every song on it is catchy even the musical intro to the album. I like humming along to that beat lol! This album is also full of great lyrics and Smiths great voice. Each of Smiths albums are great and this one just proves that more. I really love the songs "Hey You, It's Me", "Worth It All", "I Will Be Your Friend" and the musical intro "Rince D" lol. But all other songs on the album are great as well. This is definitely one to pick up and add to your collection!
