Evidence suggests that Foolish Things’ 2006 national release Let’s Not Forget The Story flew under many people’s “radar.” There wasn’t a whole lot of buzz surrounding the summer release and the word seemed slow in spreading about this extremely talented and dedicated Denver-based band. Nevertheless, the “five guys following Jesus and making music” are back with their second independent release and third album.

The lyrics of Even Now are probing and candid; sometimes stark, but Isaac Jorgensen and Mark Labriola’s delivery (reminiscent of Downhere’s dual vocalists Marc Martel and Jason Germain) and the tone of the music keep the songs from becoming somber and hopeless. The songs are declarations of devotion; the frail human juxtaposed with the eternal uncompromising, yet never come across as blindly optimistic or clichéd. Fidelity, hope and encouragement to persevere are the band’s writ to those who will listen.

Foolish Things' musical formula does not deviate from their previous efforts of radio-friendly, hook-filled modern pop/rock. It’s apparent producer Tommy Collier nudged the five band members enough they appropriated surrounding musical territory without abandoning what defined their previous effort. The music is spacious and expressive, making use of various sonic textures to augment the predominantly guitar and percussion-driven sound while allowing the vocalists’ delivery to stand out.

Even Now is an exuberant, passionate and quirky musical avowal- a superb addition to their repertoire of God-centered, melodic, modern rock. If you’re into the vertically relational-oriented modern rock of Jason Morant, Robbie Seay Band, Fee, Starfield, Sonicflood, and Ruth, then Even Now (and Let’s Not Forget The Story) are highly recommended by this reviewer. Since the band and Inpop Records have parted ways, (and the band has agreed to move on to other endeavors) this release falls into the category of independent and probably won’t see widespread distribution. You’ll have to surf over to Foolish Things’ website, their myspace page, or itunes and order/download this fantastic album.

Blown Away! | Posted April 19, 2008
Ok, my first album review! YAY! I had to do Foolish Things, cause I love them a LOT! It makes me really really sad that they're breaking up :( But, I got this CD almost a month before the release concert, at the first show they were selling it at! SCORE! I felt special about that, like I got a sneak peak, you know? Anyway, so, I got home and immediately popped it into my computer. Shooting in the Dark comes on. My face... O.O!!! I was in love! I loved how they had the whole two person affect... cause... well, it was sung by two people (DUH!) but it was SOO cool! I keep listening and Who'd You Put In Charge comes on... again... O.O!!! It officially became one of my favorite songs!!! I LOOOVED it! "The one who has a birds eye view, the one who'd take a nail for you!" Man, my favorite song lines EVER! Even Now gives me chills every time I hear it! Man do I love that song! It plays on my radio station a lot, which is good, cause, I love that song! Fly was really good! Can't say it became one of my favorites, but it was still awesome! Then things slowed down with Love Chained Me Here, only for the beat to be picked up again with Holding On To What Is Easy.. That song is INCREDIBLE! I LOOOVE it! But it can't beat Fight! That song was, for awhile, tied with Love Atmosphere for my favorite off the album! It is fast paced and oh so very catchy! I can't listen to it enough! But my favorite off the album would have to be Love Atmosphere! That song encourages me every time I hear it! A couple times, I listened to it and almost started crying because it told me what I really needed to hear at that momment. It always seems to speak to me! Keep Us Together and Let go are also extremely good songs, though I can't say I fell in love with them like most of the other songs on the album. They have an extremely good message, and I really really like them, but they just didn't have the same effect on me like some of the other songs had.

So, there you have it, my first review! YAY!

Excellent Album | Posted January 29, 2008
Foolish Things comes out with another album after the Inpop release of "Let's Not Forget The Story." Now an independent band they come out with a excellent album. I like their style of music and the lyrics are very good and thought provoking.

The songs "Fly" and "Flight" were previously on their earlier albums. They both sound great. The song "Even Now" is a great song and is one of my favorite songs on the album.

These guys have great hearts for serving the Lord as I've listened to their music and as I've talked to one of the guys at a concert.

Check out this great pop/rock album.
