Something To Say [edit]
by Matthew West | Genre: AC/Inspo | Release Date: January 15, 2008

With several huge radio hits under his belt, Matthew West is one of Christian music’s fastest rising stars. Ubiquitous songs like "Only Grace", "More", and "Next Thing You Know" are proof that Matthew knows how to write massive songs that connect with the Christian music listeners right on the bull’s eye. On his third album, Something To Say, Matthew explodes with even bigger songs of passion and lives lived for Christ. The album’s lead-off single, "You Are Everything", has had major impact at Christian radio, and Something To Say is full of hits destined to keep it a mainstay on the charts.

Matthew West has Something to Say. Not long after a surgery on his vocal chords which could have left him speechless he releases this album which will make many people happy. Songs like 'Something to Say' and 'Friend in the World' and 'You Are Everything' will become sure hits. Even 'The Motions' will become big. But others like 'Save a Place for Me' and 'Stop the World' seem out of place and bumpy in a CD that comes off as autobiographical.

Matthew West needs to continue his tradition of drawing from his life. These songs continue to be the best and most enthuiastic songs on the album. He needs continue to focus on acoustic pieces where he tells a story because that is when it seems he is happiest.

inspiring :) | Posted February 08, 2010
i bought this album for the a song i heard on the radio that i fell in love with, The Motions. after buying the album i listened to that same track about 20 times before listening to the rest of the CD :P and i really like something to say, it was a very inspiring and sweet song and it made me think about how everyone has a purpose, and no matter how different we are, we all have the same goal to expand God's kingdom :) anyway great album!

Matthew West is by far one amazing singer!
----------------------------------------------

To hear that after his surgery he might never be able to sing again....what a blessing from God that he can.
----------------------------------------------

Hearing him praising God is a wonderful thing.

Something To Stay..and talk about | Posted December 05, 2009
I do have something to say about this album and it follows:
This CD is very good. Not outstanding, but good enough for me to want to write a review for it. The title track is the best track in my opinion because it relates so well to his story of not being able to talk and also ties in the fact that whether we can talk or not we are all included in God's mission and you are important in that mission. It makes me wonder if I was to disappear today, what would people say about me? Would they have seen Jesus? If you can breathe (most of you reading will be doing so) you are included and important and can relate to this song. 'The Motions' is one of those songs that pretty much any Christian can relate to and if you can't then you are probably dead or perfect and again...probably not the case here. 'You are Everything' is nothing we've never heard before but it is fun to sing along with. 'The Center' is a great prayer to consistently pray so we don't stray down our own path. And you obviously don't want something to stray (sorry couldn't resist). Other song highlights include 'Safe and Sound' the tribute to his daughter, 'A Friend in the World' because it references tobymac from his 'Free at Last' years which is just classical, and 'Stop the World' is a great way to end the album as it reminds us to stop in our busy lives and listen for the voice of God as he may have something to say (again couldn't resist).
Overall the album is solid and probably his best album and if you get the 2CD set with the DVD, the documentary is fun to watch as well. Bottom line is if you get the CD you will either have something to play in your car or something to weigh down your papers.

GREATTTLYYY AMAZINGG! | Posted October 31, 2009
Pretty much, Matthew West continues to amaze me! This album is one of his best! The Motions is an AWESOME song! It has helped me so much in my life, and, if i could find a soundtrack with the key, this would definitley be on my top list of songs to sing at church. So many people need the encouragement this song gives! :D

The Best West Yet | Posted October 26, 2009
I always like Matthew West, but was never a big fan until this album. Matthew West's spiritual growth from his trialed time, is unequivocally evident in the anointing of this album. Every song is deeper and more meaningful, and scream out to just touch the hem of His garment. This is Matthew West's best album yet.

Wow! Such a good cd! | Posted October 07, 2009
I wasn't a huge fan of Matthew West. I liked a few of his songs, but hadn't bought one of his cds....then I heard "The Motions" and was like wow.....I got his cd "Something To Say" for my birthday and absolutely loved it! So here is my evaluation of the cd:

1. Intro
Well, intros can make or break a song. This one though, made it! I thought it was a beautiful intro!

2. Something To Say
Awesome! It encourages us to be ourselves, and to be bold, and share Jesus Christ, and that our life says more about us than we can imagine.

3. The Motions
Oh wow I could go on forever about this song! We as Christians can settle for such mediocrity (I'm sorry, that is probably not spelled right) it's appalling. But Mr. West encourages NOT to just live life, but be on fire for God, to be ministers, not just be ministered to. This song really challenged me, and I hope it will challenge you also.

4. You Are Everything
God is everything to us! This is such a beautiful song that praises God in such an awesome way!

5. The Center
They always say to be in the center of God's Will is the safest place to be! This is a great song. I believe Mr. West really put his heart into this song. Love the music also!!!!

6. Save A Place For Me
I nearly cried when I heard the words to this song. I have a grandpa in heaven, who died while testifying and praising God in church.I know he will be saving a place for me and my family. Mr. West puts such feeling and meaning in this song. The music is perfect, as well as the lyrics.

7.Life Inside You
Awsome first verse about being Pro-life, life IS sacred, and it IS life and not a ball of tissue. You can tell this is definitely a very personal song, and he did absolutely great! The music is catchy, but at this point it seems everything is starting to sound alike.

8. Safe and Sound
So sweet and wonderful...different kind of music too...definitely a like!

9. The Moment of Truth
Great song! Divorice and addictions are big problems, as well as touchy subjects. But Mr. West pulled it off! He did an amazing job on this song!

10. A Friend In The World
Cool intro! The music is catchy and fun. (You are probably tired of hearing me gush, but its great)

11. All The Broken Pieces
Gid can use broken lives and hearts! Mr. West really puts time and effort into his songwriting, and it shows...music is still "that style" though. But it fits the song, so can't complain.

12. Stop The World
Looong song! Haha. But this is a wonderful song! He emphasizes alone time with God. This is a wondeful song that is truly our heart's prayer.

Summary:
Wonderful songwriting, awesome voice. But.....music is kinda cookie cutter, but that is a lousy complaint and is not a huge deal. I recommend this album to everyone!
