James King shines, January 9, 2004
By Michael R. Nothstine (Wilmore, Ky)
James King is an impressive traditional bluegrass vocalist. Of the three albums of his I own this is definitely my favorite. The album title makes a lot of sense, because it will make you feel lonesome. The song selection is great, and my favorite is Hazel Dickens "Just A Few Old Memories." He has a truly powerful and stunning voice that will capture the fan of any traditional country or bluegrass lover. I would describe this entire album as "The Stanley Brothers meet George Jones." And if you think both or either of those are great musicians you will absolutely love "Lonesome and then Some." If you don't own any of King's stuff this a good album to start with.
