Half Past Forever rose up from the ashes of several local Upstate, SC bands, quickly forging their own sound in a vibrant music scene that produced NeedToBreathe, Overflow and Georgia. Based on Chris Foxx's songwriting and voice, the band began to find a following of their own, playing any venue that would allow them to grace their stage, touring endlessly while all the members worked their "real jobs".
In 2006, the band hit rock bottom when several members decided to pursue other interests, leaving Chris and guitarist Adam Fisher to pick up the pieces. After several moths off, the two decided to continue the band with new members, emerging with 45 new demos that would be whittled down to create the band's 2nd album Take a Chance on Something Beautiful. The band added Cole Edmonson to round out the band's official lineup (the band hires out drumming duties).
The band spent several months recording the album, producing the album in Chris's home studio. Adam brought in engineering experience from his former band Nova 77's 2 albums, while Chris brought in production experience from his 2 solo records. They recorded the album slowly, taking time to get things right. The album that ensued was beyond all the band's expectations, and has received critical acclaim for the songwriting, production and vocal work.
The band originally released the album independently March 13, 2007. The band sold over 15,000 albums before Brash Music licensed the record to be released nationally. The album re-releases July 10.

Potentially one of the best rock releases of 2007 is Half Past Forever's Take a Chance on Something Beautiful- the band of American Idol alum, Chris Sligh. Sligh's background as a worship leader lends itself well to the speculative vibe of Take a Chance on Something Beautiful's lyrics. The musical synergism produced by the core trio of HPF keep things compelling and moving briskly.
Keen lyrics and inventive songwriting, are a hallmark on HPF's debut album. You don't have to be a member of the "'Fro Patrol" to enjoy the addictive, astute rock music created by this group. For fans of U2, The Strokes, NeedToBreathe, and The Afters.
It's More Than Just The Hair| Posted July 17, 2007
Since I started getting into the phenomenon known as American Idol back when Carrie Underwood was singing, I had major trouble picking somebody I liked. I only liked Carrie because she looked better than Bo Bice, she also had the better name. The next season wasn't much better, Chris Daughtry was OK, but most of his songs were unknown to me.
Then, this past season came, from his audition Chris Sligh had me hooked with his sense of humour and unique voice. He sang MuteMath, and covered the legend that is dc Talk. However, America wasn't sold, he was voted off early. However, he's back with his hometown band, and he bring his vocals, and his approach to music with him, but keeps his love for God. The result is one of the best debuts in a long time.
"Hero", "Know" "In A Moment", are just of few of the amazing highlights off this album. Let's face it, there is little originality in the world of Christian pop and rock these days. To cure your summer music blues, to find something refreshing and original, look no further, you found it.

Take a Chance...I did. I bought this album without actually listening to it. And i wasn't disappointed. My favorite songs on this cd are Know and In a Moment. But every song on this cd is a great song.
