On his solo debut, Sons and Daughters, CJ Bergmen blends a mix of progressive musical influences with lyrical honesty to create a fresh and much-welcomed addition to the world of modern worship music. While not shying away from harsh realities or honest questioning, the album’s lyrical focus centers on redemption, hope, and grace for a fallen world. Driving piano and electric guitars point to Brit Rock influences such as Coldplay, Radiohead, and Snow Patrol, while Indie, and Alt- Country influences (Phil Wickham, Derek Webb) mesh to form a style which at times channels straightforward rock and roll and is at times subtle and epic.
