As early as his very first project, Michael W. Smith dreamed of making an instrumental album. Now, after 18 years of making hit records and writing chart-topping songs, Michael settles down to make the record he says he must make before he can go on with his career. Written almost as a "life soundtrack," Michael's first full instrumental album is an intimate and inspiring glimpse at the spirit of one of Christian music's most loved musicians.

Any album that kicks off with a sweeping score and celtic flute is bound for greatness! This is a great instrumental album and definitely sounds like a movie soundtrack. I know I read somewhere that MWS had always wanted to write music for movies, so it seems this release was him fulfulling a long time dream. It is very well done and has a strong celtic feeling throughout...which I thought was great.

I used to consider songs without lyrics to sing along with to be pointless, but after hearing this album for the first time, it changed my mind! :D Freedom holds some kind of special message all it's own, that no words can describe. :D Words aren't always necessary to display the emotion and feelings one has. In fact, sometimes the music alone does a better job! :D
I find myself humming the catchy tune of Hibernia at all the oddest of times, and just basking in the reverance of Thy Word. Freedom Battle so eloquently puts to music the feeling of victory over hardship, and The Offering just calms my spirit. :D
Freedom is truly a magnificent album, and one many musical enthusiasts will enjoy! :D It's definitely one of Michael W. Smith's greatest albums!! :D
