A CHIPPER, CHEERFUL CHRISTMAS| Posted November 24, 2008
As the tween pop market continues to explode faster than Nintendo Wii’s are snatched up this holiday season, pureNRG continues to ascend the ladder as one of the genre’s top acts. Outside of The Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus (both of whom have been outspoken about their personal Christianity), the teen pop trio may be the most popular of today’s faith-focused crop, which explains the flurry of recent projects including a concert DVD and this Christmas disc.
Just like the group’s moniker implies, there’s plenty of energy throughout the project, starting with “Joy to the World,” which fakes out listeners at first with its scratchy, old-time record opening before exploding into a peppy, horn-smacked party. “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” is more guitar-charged in nature and features the trio’s vibrant harmonies, which also extends into a dance-derived take on “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” However, there are still plenty of carols packed within this CD, including the loop-enhanced “Away In a Manager,” the chilled-out ballad “Silent Night” and a spunky “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee.”
Though “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is mildly fun, it falls somewhat flat compared to Mariah Carey’s signature version of the same song. Thankfully, it’s the only less than impressive track on the disc. However, there is another element of disappointment in the fact this disc is merely 10 songs long with no originals whatsoever. The somewhat skimpy track listing may work for shorter attention spans, but at least one personal reflection would’ve given fans additional insight into pureNRG’s personalities, which are otherwise just as lively as ever! –Andy Argyrakis

Christmas Sensation| Posted June 06, 2009
Successful teen pop act pureNRG has their career on the fast track right now. With the release of A pureNRG Christmas, this marks their third release in less than two years. Christmas music is often held to a higher standard, mainly due to the fact that from October through December, it's one of the main things we hear everywhere, from the mall to the radio. So the question is, where does pureNRG take their sound on this holiday collection?
Opening track "Joy to the World" is an extremely high energy, fast paced rendition, as are most of the tracks. The same pattern continues with "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" and "The Twelve Days of Christmas." In fact, "Silent Night" proves to be the only slow track on the whole disc. "All I Want For Christmas" is a nice break from the monotony of classics.
This is a solid record and is definitely not a letdown. pureNRG continues to present themselves as huge contenders on the youth pop scene, and tweens are sure to be clamoring to get their hands on a copy of this album. A fun record overall, fans will unquestionably be pleased with A pureNRG Christmas, and are bound to keep listening as their sound hopefully starts to advance
One of the Best Christmas Albums Ever.| Posted December 21, 2008
After pureNRG's somewhat of a letdown sophomore album, they have come back with 10 all-new Christmas carols that are NRGized and fun! From the upbeat "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" to the cute and peppy "All I Want For Christmas", the album is high-octane all the way through, with the exception of the nice ballad, "Silent Night". Overall, this is one heck of an album and truly the GREATEST Christmas album this year. Go buy it... NOW! You will love it!
