I'm doing my best to seize this moment when I don't have much to do. Well that's not the truth I have plenty to do but I don't feel so overwhelmed that I can't write.
I am hurting for the world. Not some generic "world" that people cant see or touch. But for the world around me. For my family, my community, for nations.
I'm am realizing more and more that it is insanity to believe that a CD will be the big relevant tool to open the eyes of the world to Truth or more specifically Jesus.
BUT...I do think the music can help many and I pray the music will push you toward your word and God will use it to turn hearts toward Himself, His church, and His ways.
If you get "Rebel" please take time to think through the songs. Don't just take them at face value. Marinate on them pray about the content and line it up with the word of God. You'll find that many of the songs are really just an exegesis, description, or translation of the bible.
My point is this.
I want the Lord to change your hearts, I want to challenge you, and I want to encourage you. But more than anything I want you to use the Bible as the lens that you see the world through.
If that's the case then you'll see many of the ways we operate and things we think are more American than Christian. We think and act more out of culture and tradition than out of a biblical perspective.
What does God say about relationships, money, depression, guilt, identity, sexuality? He says a lot. If we spend time learning His ways we will find ourselves slowly turning our back and in rebellion against the worlds way of doing things.
One example is male/female relationships. The culture tells us to pursue them at any age and time. It's apparently "cute" for 10 year olds to have boyfriends or girlfriends. The culture says sex is a part of "dating" (which is also cultural).
God on the other hand doesn't tell us "get as close as you can without sinning." He tells us to FLEE sexual immorality. (1st Cor. 6:18) RUN from the opportunity to get into some sexual action.
As rebels we are so in love with Jesus, He is so valuable to us that we look crazy because we actually follow His word. We seem extreme and fanatical, but I wonder if God is preparing our hearts and minds for action due to coming persecution, or the training of a generation that will face oppression and persecution. If we don't stand firm who will? God is establishing His kingdom will you be a part of this or watch from the sidelines. REBEL.

WOW| Posted September 14, 2009
Lecrae is probably the best christian rapper ever. He has great rifs and whats better is the messege he "reps." The way he tells people about our Lord is simple incredible. When i first heard him i was not really into rap at all, but as i listened to his lyrics more and more, i became i huge fan. I now love listening to christian rap because of Lecrae.
GO HARD OR GO HOME| Posted August 17, 2009
Lecrae delivers the gospel message AGAIN. And this time even better! With the featured artists and their creativity the album was solid. "Don't Waste Your Life" inspires the audience to live this short life for the glory of God, and not our fleshly desires. "Go Hard" fires the believer to go hard and go to the ends of the earth to preach the gospel. "Got Paper" with it's catchy beat to keep your head bobbin, it reminds Christians to forget about the cash that will fade and instead to keep their minds on the eternal Word of God which endures forever. The whole album echoes "Rebel". The whole world is going in one direction: Livin for the pride of life. But we should rebel against the ways of the world and live for the glory of Jesus Christ. That'll make em look twice.
Outstanding Rap Album!| Posted August 09, 2009
Lecrae is my favorite rapper to date. His albums also just seem to keep getting better and better!
The songs that can be found on Lecrae's newest album, "Rebel", sound somewhat different than those from his previous albums, but that's not necessarily a bad thing at all! The beats and the message in these songs are outstanding! Some of my favorites include "Don't Waste Your Life", "Go Hard", "Identity", "Got Paper", and "I'm A Saint". The other songs are additionally good, but those are just some of my favorites.
The well-written songs on "Rebel" challenge believers to evangelize and live a life that is pleasing to Christ. Lecrae's rapping is simply so much more than just a bunch of words!
I recommend this CD to anybody, but especially anybody who is into secular rap. Lecrae and the 116 Clique prove that there is rap out there that has a great beat and a GREAT message. After listening to "Rebel", you can't help but be fired up for Christ!
Ready to Rebel| Posted August 05, 2009
The "Rebel" CD showcased Lecrae's lyrical depth and amazing flow and attention to detail. This CD was on repeat for a couple of months. It was just that good.
It opens with the powerful Rebel Intro- reminding us that rebellion is a good thing because Christ was a rebel. "Jesus was a rebel, renegade, outlaw, sanctified trouble maker, but he never sinned naw..."
Highlights:
-Don't Waste Your Life (Dwayne Tryumf is amazing. I love the way he referenced Lecrae's verse from Jesus Musik.)
-Go Hard (Tedashii ended the song with a powerful flow. Nice touch.)
-Indwelling Sin (this battle of words with the devil was enlightening)
-Got Paper (This flow brings it all in perspective: "2nd Corinthians chapter 8 and verse 2, read that and please believe that, forget a c-note man they pockets was e-flat. They still had joy!")
-The Bride (Explains why the church will "never be replaced with a one-man band, or a small taliban with nobody in command, yeah!")
-Beautiful Feet (nice take on Isaiah 52:7-loved it!)
Overall, this CD is Lecrae at his finest. Yet I love how he stays humble and gives all glory to Christ in every song.
Lecrae| Posted July 21, 2009
The album is a certified banger. Lecrae outdid himself with this one, it was one of my favorites of 2008. I love Lecrae and his music because they are both all about Christ's glory.
Top of the game| Posted May 20, 2009
Lecrae is deffinetly at the top of the Christian Rap game, him and his boys at Reach are amazing at what they do. They have solid beats with solid lyrics that challenge me everytime i listen to them.
new classic| Posted January 06, 2009
THE best album this year. THE best album from Lecrae. Every song on this album speaks volumes. Upon the first listen there wasnt a song i didnt like. There still isnt, but there is one that i skip every now and then. Thats "Live Free." Its not a bad song it just seems to go against the flow of the rest of the album. In my opinion the the best songs are "Fall Back", "Go Hard", "Dont Waste Your Life" in that order. The whole cd is a banger. Lecrae seems to pour his heart out on this album more than any other of his. He takes you thru his struggles with temptation, condemnation, and understanding the meaning of truth.
And if you wanna introduce Holy Hip Hop to a cat who might laugh at the idea of Christian rap? Let them have a listen to REBEL. Buy a copy for you and some young cat that needs to ingurgitate divine truth instead of the mess they're getting on tv and radio.
Changing Lives| Posted October 28, 2008
I hate rap! That is until I listened to Lecrae and his other friends that make up 116 Clique. Every time I listen to a Lecrae CD I believe it changes my life. There is solid truth, theology, doctrine, word for word scripture, openness, vulnerability, and so much love in every song they select to go on their albums. I know it's rap, but I don't see it as such. I see it as the gospel made real for lives to come to know Jesus in a language that the world can understand. My life is blessed in being able to listen to his words. And for all those who haven't ever listened I say,"he who has ears to hear let him hear!"
Breat Album!!!| Posted October 02, 2008
This album is a great follow-up to After the Music Stops. The best part about Lecrae is his amazing Lyrics that change people's lives and brings many to Christ.
