How To Save A Life [edit]
by The Fray | Genre: Pop/Rock | Release Date: September 13, 2005

The Fray: Joe King (vocals, guitar); Isaac Slade (vocals, piano); Dave Welsh (guitar); Ben Wysocki (drum). Recording information: Echo Park, Bloomington, Indiana (2005); Sony Studios, New York, New York; Coupe Studios, Boulder, Colorado; FTM Studios, Lakewood, Colorado.

This Denver-based quartet mixes the sweeping, arena-ready feel of Coldplay with the sincere, radio-friendly folk-rock of bands like Counting Crows for a highly melodic brand of palatable pop. The Fray`s first release, HOW TO SAVE A LIFE, is packed with songs that push all the right mass-appeal buttons: sumptuous piano, swaying mid-tempo rhythms, anthemic choruses, and alternately soaring and meandering melodies sung in a high, emotive voice. Bridging stadium rock, emo, and classic rock on the order of U2, the Fray makes an assured first statement on their debut.

Best New Band of Decade! | Posted August 29, 2007
"Over My Head" and "How To Save A Life" are 2 of my top 25 most played songs. I love the style of this album and this is the first mainstream band of the 2000's that has me totally hooked from their debut release. Probably the most influential "band of faith" in mainstream music and my vote for best new band of the decade! I love the album more and more and also check out the songs "All At Once" and "Look After You". Here are the phenomenal lyrics for "How to Save a Life":
The Fray lyrics.

The only songs I like... | Posted August 15, 2009
are "How To Save A Life","She Is", and "Over My Head". The others were too whiny. I couldn't tell what he was saying. I had the misfortune of reserving a library copy that didn't have the booklet, but usually I can hear a lot of the words without one.

I liked how it was slow but still had a bit of rock in it.

They did a great job.

Best Album Ever | Posted May 20, 2008
This is the best studio album by any band on the market. There is not a bad song on this cd. This album is a must have for any cd collection. It's also a great album for anybody who loves the piano-rock sound.

Good | Posted April 03, 2008
This album was really good. Everything blended together nicely and the sound was really good. I liked over my head and little house, and i agree that how to save a life was overplayed too much.

great album i love she is and over my head but they way overplayed how to save a life on the radio and pretty much made the song older than the rolling stones

SO GOOD! | Posted December 24, 2007
Oh gosh, i love this band. Its smooth instruments and Isaac's wonderful vocals hecka blends the songs together. Their style of music is so relaxing. Each song brings in its own melody. Real good album, advise you to get it.
