Fourth full-length album by the American technical thrash and avant-garde metal band Believer, released on March 17, 2009 on Cesspool Recordings, an imprint of Metal Blade Records.
A comeback album, the CD is the band's first new release since their demise in 1994. The initial reception of Gabriel has been highly positive. The album features guest appearances by Joe Rico (Sacrifice), Deron Miller (CKY, World Under Blood), Rocky Gray (Evanescence, Soul Embraced, Living Sacrifice) and Howard Jones (Killswitch Engage). The artwork was done by Roz (Michael Rosner) of Eye Level Studio.
The group's first release for the Metal Blade label shows that despite the long layoff between albums, the boys are automatically back in business, as a challenging, almost proggy edge can be detected in all the manic six-string riffing and growling, especially on such tracks as the album-opening "Medwton," plus "Focused Lethality" and the slowly building "The Brave." However, through and through, Believer don't stray all that far from their original path, as Gabriel still contains more than a few nods to vintage late-'80s/early-'90s metal.
