Since his introduction to the music world with his 1999 debut release album, Mercy, Darwin Hobbs has created a world wind of success that constantly expands the platform for his music and ministry. Darwin is a man in the midst of an incredible journey. His sincere transparency has allowed him to grow and carry his testimony to the masses.
Darwin, a Cincinnati, Ohio native was discovered at a young age and began performing though out his childhood and adolescence, in church and school, both as a soloist and in various ensembles. Darwin took a chance on his gift in the mid-1990’s when he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, Music City, to pursue a full-time career in music. His first gig as a session vocalist came about only weeks after moving to Nashville. From that moment on, word of Darwin’s presence in the city spread like wildfire. He became one of the most in-demand singers in Nashville.
He began participating in numerous recording sessions with other artists like Michael W. Smith, Twila Paris, Michael Card, CeCe Winans, Michael McDonald, Donnie McClurkin, Jars of Clay, and countless others. Darwin’s gift of song has allowed him unlimited access to some of the most notable Christian and modern Gospel personalities. By his six-month anniversary in Nashville, Darwin began receiving requests to be a solo recording artist. The requests eventually led to his first EMI Gospel release, Mercy in 1999; followed by the 100,000-plus-selling Vertical in 2000, Broken in 2003 which yielded No. 1, and Worshipper in 2005.
For his newest project, Champion, Darwin recently signed with iD Music Group, under the Universal Music Christian Group label of the Universal Music Group. Champion will be released June 8th. Darwin and his devoted wife, Traci, currently reside in Atlanta, Georgia.
