The long awaited follow-up to his Juno Award-Winning debut, Greg Sczebel’s sophomore release, “Love & the Lack Thereof” touches on all aspects and areas of that very topic – love... and the lack of it.
The 13 tracks (all penned and co-produced by Sczebel) offer a wide variety of musical styles, including the bombastic “Causin’ A Commotion” - a high energy New Orleans/Blues jam with a beat as big as Texas. Then there’s the show-stopping 70’s inspired pop number, “Stop (You’ve Only Got One Heart)” and the feel-good Rock/Pop opener, “One By One.”
Known for his moving ballads, Sczebel’s new album is no exception with the emotive track, “Homeland” (a Grand Prize winner in the international John Lennon Songwriting Contest), the folk tinged, “This is Worth Fighting For” and the epic 9-minute-long Rock-Opera, “Canceling the Noise,” which features the Nashville string section, Love Sponge (Chris Tomlin, Brandon Heath, Jason Mraz, KT Tunstall, Backstreet Boys).
This genre-bending release contains such a wide array of sounds and songs, to say there is something for everyone might just be an understatement.
