With his rich tenor voice, distinctive looks, and endearingly innocent charm, Jason Castro won over millions of viewers as a contestant on the seventh season of American Idol, parlaying his substantial singer-songwriter appeal into a third-place runner-up finish. He may not have won the competition, but the 22-year-old Texan earned himself a devoted fan base eager to hear what he would do once freed to perform his own songs.
This offering combines six songs from his debut release along with four new recordings produced by Ian Eskelin (Francesca Battistelli). Who I Am combines Jason Castro's down-to-earth personality and his heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics along with his deep-rooted Christian faith.

Nice Music| Posted November 04, 2010
I just listened to the album preview of Jason Castro. It was very nice with the Guitar. I wonder if he has had any classical guitar? If he hasn't then I think he should get lessons in classical guitar as it would enhance his playing that I can hear has a lot of potential. I also think he has a nice voice.

Jason Castro. His songs are good, his voice interesting, lyrics nice but it was his interview with K-Love that made this album stand out.
After first hearing this album, I thought it was just like all the rest of the Christian-Secular artists' works. Usually the gig is, write a song that doesn't mention someone specifically, that could pertain either to your girlfriend/boyfriend or Jesus by saying 'You' all the time.
But in his interview he said that his debut album was a love album for his wife because by being on the road a lot, he missed her. But with this second album, he really wanted to sing for God and about God.
That made me listen again to the album. I'm glad Jason has stepped up and sang about his faith. It makes me respect him more.

Castro is gifted with a voice that goes past singing into expression and storytelling. It shines on this CD. I especially love You Are and This Heart of Mine. Love this Cd. Thanks for the preview!
