Just like You paint the fiery skies / You chose the color of my eyes / From the start until the end of time / You're in the details, You're in the details

One of the biggest challenges Christians struggle with is trusting the goodness of God's plan and leadership of our lives. I know it is consistently a huge struggle for me and, based on countless conversations with friends, I know I'm not alone in that. Can you relate? That's why we all need a reminder like the one Sarah Reeves gives us in her song, "Details."
 
#1. God's plans may not always look the way you expect, but they are beyond your wildest dreams.

You know me better than I know myself / Your ways are higher than anything else / You have the plan far beyond all my wildest dreams

Ephesians 3:20 says, "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us." We learn from this verse that we follow a God who loves to work in and through our lives in incredible ways. Our good God is leading each of us along the path that is best for us and best fulfills His plans for what He wants to do in our lives and through our lives on this earth. (Psalm 32:8; Psalm 138:8) 

Sometimes God leads our lives in a way that's easy to see that He not only worked in the amazing way we believed He could but even beyond it. The big prayer we prayed gets answered. God uses our gifts to help others or opens opportunities that seem to align with our calling. We can see God helping us grow in spiritual maturity and overcoming sins and hindrances in our lives that keep us bound. We can tangibly see physical and emotional needs being met.

There's another side to that, though. Sometimes we face trials, pain, and discouragement. Sometimes prayers seem delayed or unanswered and good, godly desires seem unfulfilled. And in those moments of life, you know what? God's plans for you are still beyond your wildest dreams.

Sure, the path may look different. The end result may look different. It might be hard to walk through for a while, but God knows each of us and knows what He's doing in our lives better than we do. We know that everything God does in our lives and everything He allows in our lives are used to work together for our good and for His glory because He loves us and has a purpose for us. (Isaiah 55:8-9; Romans 8:28) It may take some time to see it, but God works beautiful things even out of the tough situations and the curve balls life throws at us.

#2. God is with you in every season of life.

You map the road of my traveling / You never let go, no, You're here with me / In every high, low and in between / You are my one and only consistency

You know what never changes no matter what circumstance or season of life you're in? The fact that God is there with you. Sometimes the greatest source of comfort and consistency in difficult and shifting seasons of life isn't necessarily for things to change, it's simply knowing that you're not in it alone. It's knowing that God is close, in the trenches with you and He is mapping out the road of your life for good and for His glory even when you can't see it. (Psalm 139:7-12) It's knowing that He is in the details, present and working in your life in the good, bad and the mundane in between.

Final Thoughts

You drew the lines of my fingerprints / I'm the design, You're the artisan / You wrote the tales of my destiny / And on every page reads Your love for me
 
Ephesians 2:10 - For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.

Whether it's easy or hard for you to trust the way God is working in your life right now, know that He is leading you with intention, wisdom, and love for you. He is crafting a story in your relationship with Him and through your life that may or may not always look the way you expected, but for sure is beyond your wildest dreams. God writes beautiful stories. God makes incredible art, and you are His masterpiece. Trust the Artisan.
