Mission House is, at first glance, a duo composed of Jess Ray and Taylor Leonhardt. And while these two talented singers and songwriters are the foundation, Mission House is at its core, a community of many more. The two women are committed to bringing together their neighbors, family, and friends to worship.

Their captivating story of friendship begins on two separate paths with two distinctive stories. Despite their unique histories, God has intertwined their musical talents for His glory. Now they are joined as worshippers in a beautiful accord only He could breathe life into. Their most recent project is the collection My Eyes Are Open (Acoustic). We take a look at two songs off the record, below.

NEW: "Your Eyes See Me"

You pull me out of the darkness
You pull me out of my pain
You pull me out of the deep end
When I fall in

I've been in the pit of despair before. It's called many different things–perhaps you know it as anxiety or depression; I find both those terms synonymous with attacks by the enemy. He gains pleasure from isolating us and one of the most effective ways to ensure we don't go to God is getting us locked in our own heads. It's those times when you feel imprisoned in the cycle of voices that Satan is working the hardest to keep you chained.

But the good news is God sees you with His very own eyes. He is transforming your cloak of chains into a coat of colors. Run to Him when you feel trapped. He welcomes you when feeling the slightest twinge of worry and when you feel the most intense anxiety attack coming on. He is there for it all and nothing is stronger than His name.

NEW: "I Don't Have Much"

I don't have much, I don't have much
But I have a heart that beats for You
I have a heart that beats for You

The simplicity of this song struck me immediately. I often find myself buzzing around with ideas and constantly swamped with words. I'm always trying to explain myself faster than my mouth can even move. In the moments when God leaves me speechless, it's different. He doesn't need much from me. All He wants is my love and that can be given in one clean act of surrender. He rejuvenates me by replacing my spirit of exhaustion and worry with one of peace and awe. It's this awe I find myself living in at the moment. It takes little effort on my part; all I have to do is acknowledge God and yield my path to Him. "I don't have much, but I have a heart that beats for You."
