Reach Records'
Lecrae and
1K Phew collaborate for a timely album geared to meet listeners at their personal crossroads of their faith and battling the uncertainty of the current pandemic. The concept for the album was born out of personal conversations during the recording of Lecrae's next project,
Church Clothes 4. It occurred to both artists that people actually haven't been to church in a while due to COVID-19, church hurt, and other conflicting situations. 1K Phew comments, "NCIAW is telling people there's still hope you can still turn to God no matter how long you've been away." This album is a metric to invite people back to the local church and help deepen individual levels of faith.
Standout tracks include "One Call," "Blockhead," and "Save Me" featuring label mates Hulvey and WHATUPRG. If RG's verse on the last track of the album is any indication of what his next release,
New Hollywood, will reveal, fans are in for something special. The production overall deserves its own accolades. Each track is a vibe, catchy, and forces body movement. For example, the whistles present on "One Call" will stay in your mind for days after hearing it. The album sort of has the feels of a sequel to
Let the Trap Say Amen as Phew even references the two as the "Hammer Time" boys on several bars. This project is more refined, focused, and pieced together with an underlying message. Even only at 10 tracks, much is to be said throughout, so pay attention. Stream

4 Against 5’s
Steven Malcolm and Reflection Music Group’s (RMG)
Derek Minor team up to remind the CHH space that they’re both still actively cooking up hits and they can each “rap, RAP” at any given moment. In true-to-form freestyle fashion, Malcolm and Minor unload an array of bars one after the other throughout the track. Each rapper is known for their stylistic, deep content, and brilliant wordplay. “I see a lane and I pave me a route,” comments Malcolm while Minor hits listeners with, “I turn a daydream into a finish.” This is definitely a track you must run back five and six times to catch what each artist conveys lyrically. B. Cooper feat. Travis Dupri - "In Your Will"
Formally with RMG,
B. Cooper returns with his timely annual single. Since 2019, he's only released one single per year. I can only imagine 2022 may be calculated as his official return to the scene, but say tuned. B. Cooper teams up with an independent artist from West Virginia,
Travis Dupri. I've been a weathered fan of Dupri for quite some time, as I'm hyped to see him gain recognition by more pronounced artists. Another rarity B. Cooper brings is the styling of the track. Not only does it include a third verse, an anomaly anymore in the CHH space. However, it's over three minutes too while most singles sit around the two-minute mark primed for TikTok and social media usage. B. Cooper's combined unique voice and flow remain consistent. Two qualities I've always appreciated. It's dope to hear artists still give God all the Glory lyrically throughout their art remaining unashamed. The hook is a vibe and the production from Chris King x Kangaroo is refreshing. Stream "In Your Will" on Spotify
