Christmas is in full swing! The weather is cooling down, malls are crowded, and every house on the block is decked out with lights. Yep, Christmastime is here. And with it comes an array of new holiday tunes, like Sarah Reeves' new album More The Merrier.
The eight-song record highlights both original and classic Christmas songs, all of them featuring Sarah Reeves' impeccable vocals and pop hooks. She recently released four accompanying cinematic music videos from songs off the album, and today we're going to be taking a look at them. So "be sure to wear your ugly Christmas sweater," because you're about to get transported to a winter wonderland.
"Sentimental"
Christmas is always a sentimental time of year. All of the memories rush back to you, and there's a feeling of magic in the air. Sarah Reeves brings that feeling to life in her new song and music video "Sentimental." The song features a selection of stringed instruments and Sarah's beautiful vocals sung into a retro microphone. The video captures the beauty and sentiment of Christmas, and the trees in the background give you that extra "warm and fuzzy" feel.
"Nowhere to be, nowhere to go/Just you and me, no place like home/Carols and bells, twinkling lights, it's a wonderful life/I just get sentimental/Can't help but be sentimental."
"More The Merrier"
Although "More The Merrier" is an original song from Sarah Reeves, it truly feels like a song that has been around for decades. With the big-band vintage sound and the feel-good lyrics, "More The Merrier" is a song that sounds like it should be in a classic Christmas movie. It's one of my favorite tracks from her new album, and the accompanying music video is just as wonderful. The video was filmed in front of a small audience, which gives it a sense of intimacy and togetherness.
"Let down your hair, be sure to wear your ugly Christmas sweater/'Cause the bigger, the better/When we're all together/The more, the merrier."
"Winter Wonderland (feat. Clark Beckham)"
"Winter Wonderland" was originally written by Richard B. Smith in the 1930s and is a romantic song that people have come to know and love over the years. Sarah Reeves brings the retro vibe back with her new rendition of "Winter Wonderland." The song features the American Idol runner-up Clark Beckham, and his voice helps carry the romantic origins of "Winter Wonderland." The video portrays a couple dancing in a snowy scene, which brings the message of the song to life.
"Later on, we'll conspire/As we dream by the fire/To face unafraid, the plans that we've made/Walking in a winter wonderland."
"Go, Tell It On The Mountain"
"Go Tell It On The Mountain" is a classic Christmas song that is all about the birth of Jesus. His birth is what this season is all about, and I love that Sarah chose this song to be on her debut holiday record. She put a spin on this song and brought in a choir for background vocals. Her rendition is much more upbeat than the original, which is something that sets it apart from the rest. The accompanying video is just as energetic, and the filmmakers did an excellent job at capturing it on camera.
"Go, tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere/Go, tell it on the mountain/That Jesus Christ is born."
