Bayside Worship is the worship ministry for Bayside Community Church. They are based in Bradenton, FL, but with the release of their music, the truth they sing about has traveled the world. They have a specific mission best stated in their words: "we aim to cultivate worship experiences that are authentic and creative to help people encounter God and want to come back."
Their first album was released in 2011; since then they have grown not just as a band, but as a community. This increased unity was celebrated with their latest album Acoustic Sessions Vol. 2. It is a follow-up to Acoustic Sessions Vol.1 which was released last January. We take a look at two songs off the newest volume and dive into their lyrical meanings, below.
NEW: "God of the Ages"
I was made To know you, to love you For all my days, I will live To know you, to love you
The melodies accompanying these powerful lyrics are peaceful, but reviving. Each musician who took part in this song poured their whole heart into it and it is evident. The song is a calming reminder that God is always with me, and an invigorating notice that I need to walk in that.
God has already won every one of our battles, no matter how big or small they seem. If it's a mountain in our way, it is under His jurisdiction and He has given us the authority to remove it. I always loved the phrase "move mountains" because it gave me the feeling of being able to do anything. I have been able to rekindle that joy recently by accepting my victory in Jesus. I have nothing to fear because He has already conquered it all and the same goes for each one of you. We are all His beloved children and by that love, we can see His power at work in our lives.
NEW: "Surrender"
Help me lay my pride And burdens down I wanna seek your face I need you now
The worship team does an excellent job displaying gratitude with this song. It is a message of surrender, but simultaneously one of worship. We are so indebted to our Heavenly Father and yet He continues to forgive and give us freedom.
Free will is a tricky thing. It's a guarantee that we're going to make mistakes, but it's also a door open wide with no one pushing us through it. I am very familiar with the feeling of doubt. When God isn't working grand gestures in my life, I start to get worried. I can't see the behind the scenes formulation, I can only see a few feet in front of me and often, that scares me. Fear preys on my insecurity and anxiety for the future, but I am confident in one thing. God comes through every time. He has given you the choice to rest on that or walk away from it. Think of your miracles, not of the ones you're expecting, but the ones you've seen. Remember His faithfulness and recall He works best when we offer Him control.
