Elevation Worship, based out of Charlotte, NC, is the worship team for Elevation Church. They have been releasing music since 2008 but were leading worship far before that. Pastor Steven Furtick is their church leader and holds a strong mission to see people far away from God be lifted up in Christ. Their songs have stretched across the world, becoming the soundtracks of churches many miles away from home.
With hits like "See a Victory," "Won't Stop Now," and "Do it Again," it was no surprise to see the entire Christian music world hanging on in suspense for the release of a new album. Worshippers were not disappointed when LION was released earlier this month. Not only does it include some of the most significant names in the realm of praise, but it remains consistent with glorifying the all-powerful name, high over all: Jesus. We dive into two songs off this album, below.
"LION"
Oh, valley (Prepare the way) Be raised up (Prepare the way of the Lord) Oh, mountain (Prepare the way) Be made low (Prepare the way of the Lord)
As this album's title track and full of appearances from Chris Brown and Brandon Lake, I expected greatness out of this song. It did not let me down and I hope you feel the same way after hearing the tune.
I have never seen anyone rouse a crowd in such a way as the Lord can do. He awakens the sleeping to His majestic presence. He makes blind eyes see so they can gaze upon His goodness and deaf ears hear of His love. When He wants a way to be made, nothing is going to stop Him. The best thing I ever did was accept Him into my heart to lead my every step and the most wonderful moment in my life will be when I meet my Savior face-to-face. So I have no problem admitting my faith in Jesus. In fact, I would very much like to shout it off the rooftops! There is no one like my God and nothing on Earth can change that. He is coming back. My lion is coming back with an almighty roar and I just hope you are confident enough in your salvation to be ready.
"Might Get Loud"
'Cause when I think of where I could've been Should've been, would've been If He hadn't stepped in Oh, I've got a praise on the inside That can't be denied And I gotta get it out right now
Since its release as a single six months ago, this song has rocked the world of worship from the inside out. The passion barely contained within this song makes each line burst at the seams with energy.
Jesus, oh what a beautiful name. The one that pulled me from the depths of my sin, and washed my guilty hands in the waters of freedom. The one who recognized the darkness in me and banished it for good. His track record is spotless. Never once has He sinned and never once has He let me down. I've been disappointed by those I love before; I think we all have. But God is an entirely different story. Every time He promises to show up, He does and He never fails to bring His full army to protect His children. I have seen His power during pivotal moments in my life, but also in the everyday monotony of life. He makes me want to get up every morning. So, I don't want to write a word if it doesn't glorify my Heavenly Father. What good is any note I sing if it does not lift His name? I am going to praise Him as loud as I want and there is nothing that can shut down that song.
