It's almost summertime, and that means plenty of music festivals and concerts to attend. I'm grateful to see so many events where my favorite rock and metal artists can take part, especially with the last two years being quieter. I hope you get to see your favorite bands live this summer.
NewReleaseToday recently celebrated 20 years with rock guests, such as The Letter Black and Remedy Drive. Check out the celebration here.
The Christian Rock Recap has more new music for you this week. Let's take a look.
Convictions - "Supernova"
When new Convictions music is released, you know you're in for a treat, especially if you like metal music. The metal band is one of the hardest working and active bands in the last seven years. Perhaps their best work to date was their 2021 EP, I Won't Survive. The release is one of the freshest sounding metal EPs in recent years. It's deep lyrically. With that in mind, the bar was set high for new music, and "Supernova" did not disappoint. With personal, prayerful lyrics and aggressive music, we expect great things to follow this excellent single.
Amongst The Giants - "Black Box"
After a long four-year pause between new music, the metalcore band from music label Rockfest Records, Amongst The Giants, has returned. "Black Box," a killer track with a catchy chorus and intense vocals, tackles mental health. Being such a prevalent issue for many people, the way the band addresses their own struggles with mental health in this song is sure to hit home for many listeners. "Black Box" is a natural progression from their 2018 debut release, Obscene, and I'm anxious to hear more.
Relentless Flood - Echoes
Relentless Flood is a consistent force in the Christian rock scene. You might recall some of their singles, such as "Still I Know," "Come Home," and "Set Me Free." With each release, you know what to expect from Relentless Flood, and they always deliver. They boast a cohesive, hard rock sound with clear, biblical influences in their songs. That's why I'm excited for their newest release, the EP Echoes. If you need more biblically-grounded rock music, pick up a copy of Echoes.
