It's already May, and so far we've had some pretty solid rock and metal releases this year--and there's more to come. Some of my favorites so far this year are Wolves At The Gate's Eulogies album, Convictions' single "Supernova", and Beard The Lions's new EP, Out of the Eater, Something to Eat.
Some of my most anticipated releases still to come are Then It End's newly announced EP, Chasm (date TBA), Confessions of a Traitor's upcoming Facedown Records debut Punishing Myself Before God Does (September 2022), and Demon Hunter's Exile (TBA). Let us know what you're looking forward to this year. Here are a few new releases worth your attention.
Manafest - I Run With Wolves
The Christian rock/hip hop veteran Manafest has released his 11th studio album, I Run With Wolves. Manafest is still going strong after 20 years with 10 albums under his belt. And his dedication doesn't go unnoticed. With this record, he leans more into rock elements, rather than hip-hop. He has some great guest vocalists, including Thousand Foot Krutch lead vocalist Trevor McNevan (New music from Trevor would be nice). Great release from Manafest; here's to more years in him.
Confessions of a Traitor - "Peacekeeper"
Congratulations to Confessions of a Traitor for being signed to Facedown Records. One of my favorite labels signing a fantastic metalcore band was exactly the good news I needed to hear. If you haven't heard of the UK-based metalcore band, check out their Guided album and then their new single, "Peacekeeper." There is a shift in metalcore style, but it sounds great for the band. I hope more of the new music from Punishing Myself Before God Does will sound like this single; it's fresh and heavy.
Beard The Lion - "Out of the Eater, Something to Eat"
I love giving rightfully deserved attention to lesser-known artists and bands and Beard The Lion is all the more deserving of your ears and support. Beard The Lion recently re-recorded their debut EP, Out of the Eater, Something to Eat, under the same name but with new artwork. The group is an exceptionally gifted progressive metal band, which alone is rare, as not many faith-based metal bands create quality progressive metal. Along with their previous singles, "Wretch Like Me" and "Captain of the Host," they have become one of my favorites and I hope you'll consider checking them out.
Listen to these new releases on our New Christian Rock Playlist and New Christian Metal Playlist on Spotify and Apple Music. Now, you can find the latest rock and metal songs in their own respective playlists. Check out both playlists and consider giving them a follow and share. I hope you find some new artists and bands that you will love.
