Christian contemporary artist Brandon Heath recently released the music video for "That's Enough," the latest single from his album Enough Already. On a project that's all about dealing with insecurities and letting God define you, this song shows us how, to be honest with the creator and ourselves. And how to hang onto truth when life feels unsteady.

When you're struggling, you don't have to pretend to be okay.

"Mind if I tell you a secret/A few simple truths about me/Might be hard to believe/Guess I'm just tryin' to come clean/Sometimes I don't know where I'm goin'/It's hard to admit where I've been/When I come to the end of myself this is where I begin again."

To sing words like this, you have to take a bold first step and be honest with yourself and God. As Christians, we sometimes mistakenly think strength looks like covering up our struggles. Or we think faith looks like disregarding our hard emotions and pretending our problems aren't weighing on us as much as they are. I struggle with this so much in my life.

But you know what God constantly reminds me of? Strength and faith don't only look like boisterous, outward confidence at every moment. Strength can also look like bringing your burdens and weaknesses to God so He can carry them. Faith can look like bringing your worries to God and trusting Him to help.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT) says, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."

I love this passage because it's an invitation to be real with God and be real with yourself in the process. It's an invitation to unload the weight of emotions and burdens you've been carrying to God who is a safe refuge for you. It's an invitation that asks Him to step into your situation and help as only He can.

I've met God deeply and personally through the simple act of being vulnerable with Him about the emotions and challenges weighing on my heart, asking Him to meet my needs. And then experiencing Him respond with the peace and comfort of His presence.

There's something healing and freeing about walking with God through that process--even before you see a resolution to the problem you're facing. I believe He has similar encounters for you if you take that step of vulnerability.

When life is unstable, cling to the truth that is.

It's okay if I don't have the answers/It's okay to be right where you are/It was patience and kindness and love/That got us this far/But you are here/You are loved/God is good/And that's enough/And I am here/I am loved/God is good/And that's enough

Philippians 4:8 NLT: "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."

When you let God into your anxious thoughts and heavy burdens, He not only gives you peace and meets your needs, but He also aligns your thoughts and emotions with His truth. That might look like a word of encouragement He whispers to your heart through the Holy Spirit or through a friend, reminding you of a Bible verse, or something else.

The chorus of "That's Enough" models God's power by simply declaring His truth. And you can do it, too. In the middle of your situation and your emotions--in the tension of the waiting and the lack of resolve--you can proclaim what you know is sure and true: who God is and whom He says you are in Him.

When you're overwhelmed and struggling, hold onto what anchors you. Cling to the truth of God's character and His promises revealed in Scripture that never shifts or changes with circumstances. When the pressures of life, insecurity, or the accusation of the enemy try to get you off track, God's Word will keep you tethered to what's solid.

Final Thoughts

He is here/He is love/God is good/And that's enough

Cling to God and His truth over your life. Remember in everything you experience that God is ultimately the one clinging to you. So, I'll leave you with these words from Psalm 63:7-8: "Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely." He's with you. He's holding onto you. He will help you. He loves you. And that's enough.
