Dru Bex - "Reality Checks" Toronto rapper Dru Bex released his second single of 2022. "Reality Checks" speaks to those moments in life where we are faced with reality and either deal with situations by faith or flesh. Through the power of God or of our own. I really enjoyed the production accompanied by Bex's quick delivery and melodic highlights during the hook. The pounding 808's bring a smile to the surface. Stream "Reality Checks" on Spotify here.
Legin - "All I Can (Cardec Mix)" Virginia's Legin dropped his third single of 2022. Two versions were released featuring different production from Cardec Drums and Ben Mekkes. I preferred the Cardec version because it aligned more with Legin's gritty flow. The track serves as a personal manifesto for Legin detailing how he lays down his life for family, God, and others who he encounters daily. The proclamation unfolds over heavy lyricism and catchy production. Energetic, yet smooth. It's a car ride vibe balanced with spitfire delivery and bass that moves. WINGS OF AN ANGEL by YB
Born and raised in Arkansas, YB is a man always on the move. To lead, inspire and invite others to the Kingdom of God. YB releases his second project of 2022 which he's also dropped eight singles. YB launched NXT MOVE to span the reach of independent rappers such as Christopher Syncere and Coop.
The latest project is a mix of five freestyles and five additional tracks with only one longer than three minutes. WINGS OF AN ANGEL doesn't seem thematic, but more of a collection of YB's lyrical talents on display. He draws inspiration from his childhood, extreme faith, traumatic experiences, and simple raw lyricism spotlighted. YB's always been one to highlight God with his content, true CHH at its core.
