Summer is here and that means you can find all your favorite rock and metal artists at festivals all over America. Kingdom Come Festival in Indiana was a recent hit. Keep an eye out for others to catch some great Christian rock: Creation Fest in Pennsylvania, Audiofeed in Ohio, and Chains Unchained Festival in Missouri to name a few.
In other event news, the popular alternative band Switchfoot recently held their annual Bro-Am. Not to mention that there are many great tours starting soon. A couple that I'd look for a tour date for are Disciple's Rise of the Radicals tour and Convictions' second portion of the I Won't Survive tour with rock band Earth Groans supporting them. Beyond that, we are expecting great new music from rock bands like Demon Hunter, Kutless, and Confessions of a Traitor later in the year. Here are a few of the best releases in the last month or so of 2022. Enjoy.
Demon Hunter "Freedom Is Dead"
Popular hard rock band Demon Hunter's last couple of musical releases were special ones. The most recent was Songs of Death and Resurrection, a love letter to fans' favorite ballads from the band's 20 years of history. The previous was the ambitious dual release of albums, War and Peace. Now, they're back with their new full-length album, Exile.
The band's 12th studio record is led by the aggressive and old-school-sounding single, "Freedom Is Dead." As the title suggests, the content matter deals with the political state and mentality of both Christians and Americans' view of freedom. Ryan Clark, the lead singer, adds "Remember this: freedom of speech does not exist solely to uphold your beliefs and opinions. It exists for everyone." We are excited for new music from the legends of Christian metal.
The GFM Band Framing my Perception
The "beauty core" metal band of rock and roll sisters previously known as Gold, Frankincense, Myrrh has released their newest EP. It is the most mature and well-written EP yet: Framing My Perception. Now known as The GFM Band, the group has released their first album signed under the Rockfest Records banner. The girls are doing great things for ministry and music. They continue to be great inspirations for girls and women interested in the music world. They also continue to pray with fans and encourage others. The GFM Band's positivity is not unnoticed and their music keeps improving. The future looks bright for this group.
Chaotic Resemblance Nazarites
Rock band Chaotic Resemblance may not be a household name for Christian metal fans, at least not yet. But with the release of their new album, Nazarites, we get to hear the best music we've ever heard from them so far. Including two great singles, "Behold the Lamb" and "Fairest Jesus," Chaotic Resemblance boasts a unique sound; a mixture of classic metal and modern rock to truly stand out among others. Fans of the classic rock band Stryper and other prominent bands of that metal sound will enjoy Chaotic Resemblance. After 10 years, the band has finally found the sound that works best for them. And I hope they continue to make music like this.
