There are many amazing music venues across the U.S., from arenas to theaters to outdoor venues. But, there are only a few that hold iconic status for artists and attendees alike. Radio City Music Hall, The Grand Ole Opry, and the Red Rocks Amphitheater are some of these iconic venues. I had the opportunity to visit Red Rocks this summer for a concert (And now I understand why it’s a bucket-list venue).
This past August, the national radio network K-Love hosted a two-night Live at Red Rocks experience at the amphitheater outside of Denver, Colorado. On my way to the event and before I entered the venue, the drive into Red Rocks Park was breathtaking. From the moment I crossed the gate into the park, everything about this venue is an experience.
After my hunt for an appropriate place to park, I learned from the venue’s staff that there is an art to learning how to “Red Rocks” effectively. No matter where you park, there is a short hike to the venue. The hike gives you a few extra minutes to take in the natural beauty of the environment before taking in the modern concert experience.
On my way to the entrance I was supposed to enter through, I ran into my friend Adam Agee, former lead vocalist of Stellar Kart and Audio Adrenaline. I could tell that the excitement of being a part of the event started even before stepping foot inside the venue. Check out my conversation with Adam about the experience below.
Something was amazing about celebrating our creator in such a beautiful section of his creation. The walls of the amphitheater echoed the music of quite a few of our favorite artists to the very top of the stairs. Every word of encouragement spoken, and every note played rang loud and clear into the Colorado sky.
One of the things that added to the atmosphere was being able to experience a bucket-list kind of night alongside the artists. These weren't nights where the artists were creating an experience for the audience. They were nights when everyone was having the same experience together.
I hope you're able to take a few minutes to watch the video because there’s something about this venue that words on a screen aren’t enough to do justice. K-Love is also streaming both Live at Red Rocks nights over several episodes through their On-Demand platform, you can watch that here starting 9.22.22.
I want to thank the crew at K-Love, Awakening Events, and my friends, Jason and Jacqueline, for helping make this bucket-list experience possible.
