Each week, dozens of singles and a handful of projects are released in the Christian Hip-Hop (CHH) and Urban Soul spaces. DJ Mykael V feat. nobigdyl., Swoope, and Aha Gazelle - "LOTTO" New York's finest and indie tribe. member DJ Mykael V releases the first and only single from his upcoming debut project titled, BODEGA!. CHH's premier DJ collaborated with three of the most renowned artists in the space for a preview of the album dropping on November 4. The entire project was produced by 1995, he's built his own defined excellence within hip-hop. Co-collective member nobigdyl. handled the hook and delivered his own unique verses kicking off the track. Swoope doesn't hold anything back providing a gritty street vibe to the single. Gazelle wastes no time finishing things up. Collectively, the overall feel brings me back to classic east coast boom-bap anthems of the mid to late 1990s. Propaganda feat. Vanessa Hill - "Sky is an Old Friend" Hip-hop veteran Propaganda returns with another musical offering focused on the properties of God's Creation. I resonate with the relaxed, meditative feel of the track. With a voice of a child featured, I also connect with the concept to view His Creation through the innocence of child-like wonder. Prop captures all of these concepts in under four minutes. His art of storytelling and the ability to paint an audio picture for your mind to unravel is matched by very few. Vanessa Hill is such a strong, yet beautiful vocalist too adding elegance. The vehicle of poetry and spoken word most know Prop for carries over to his music and the detailed structure, and content contained. Stream "Sky is an Old Friend" on Spotify here.
CASS - "Runaway"
Canadian singer, producer, and songwriter CASS returns with a new single displaying her talented and diverse musical skill set. She provides a certain funk, prowess backed with soulful roots. The innovation found within her music goes unmatched. The soundscapes are chaotic, yet tamed. A variety of instrumental brilliance arises above powerful 808's and other percussion contributions. The basis of the track captures the concept of being unable to run away from God's presence, love, and will. Stream "Runaway" on Spotify here.
