There's so much to love about Christmas: the decorations, events, food, family, and, of course, the birth of Jesus. Music is the cherry on the Yuletide cake. When I was younger, I'd get bored hearing the old same-sounding songs every Christmas. I love the classic carols, but I love original Christmas songs more. Songs that keep the Christmas sound but use it in an upbeat and unique way.
If you're looking for some musical joy to help you get into the Christmas spirit, here are seven new holiday pop songs that'll get your feet tapping and your heart praising Jesus, the reason for the season.
Jordan Feliz - "Go Tell Em"
Pop hitmaker Jordan Feliz only recently tapped into Christmas music. Last year, he released his first Christmas song, along with covering the long-awaited classic "Feliz Navidad." This year, Jordan has expanded his Christmas collection with two new originals. He also released his "Joy To Our World" EP, a culmination of all four recently released songs.
The pop/rock bass-driven "Go Tell Em" encourages listeners to share the good news of Jesus coming and what He's done in our lives. The song has a unique classic Christmas sound that pairs well with Jordan's style and voice. Also, the breakdown at the end adds to the toe-tapping you'll experience with this Christmas standout.
YOUNGHEART - "Hallelujah (He Has Come)"
We Love Christian Music Award's 2018 Next Big Thing Winner YOUNGHEART released their second Christmas single this year, "Hallelujah (He Has Come)." The Ubinas family’s original song is an anthem of praise and thankfulness to God for the gift of His Son. The song carries a joyful message with its modern EDM/pop sound. It doesn't sound like a Christmas song, but it highlights the hope of Jesus's birth with its uplifting lyrics and delivery.
Sean BE - "Loudest Sound"
Sean BE is a new Christian pop artist from Franklin, Tennessee. The pastor-turned-musician released his first album in 2020. Sean BE is hitting the road soon to tour the country as a part of Winter Jam's 2023 lineup. His first Christmas song, "Loudest Sound," featuring pop artist Madaline Garcia, is a joyful upbeat song on God's plan and power that we saw come through the birth of Jesus. The song has a modern pop vibe that gives it an almost summer feel along with its Christmas underline that will make you want to get up and dance along.
Carmen Justice - "Every Day Is A Holiday"
Starting as a front woman for Dove Award-nominated girl group 1 Girl Nation, pop artist Carmen Justice stepped out as a solo artist in 2017. Since then, she's reached both Christian and mainstream audiences through her alternate pop music. Releasing what may be the feel-good holiday song of the year, Carmen's single "Everyday Is A Holiday" is a fun pop song about spending Christmas with a special someone. Even if you're single like me this Christmas season, the song will put a smile on your face with its catchy sound and Christmas cheer.
Ryan Ellis - "Unto Us"
Making a splash in the Christian music world this year with his hit worship song, "Heart of The Father," and his self-titled debut album, Ryan Ellis has become one of the biggest new artists to watch. Rounding out the year, Ryan released his second Christmas song, "Unto Us." The song is an upbeat soul-infused call to lift praise to the One who has come down to us. I love how Ryan crafted "Unto Us" with worship, gospel, pop, and soul. He gave it the Christmas charm in a perfect blend for the season.
Futures - "JOY"
Futures, formerly known as Influencers Worship, started as a group of friends from Australia moving to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue music. Now, the Dream Label Group band, with two albums under their belts, continues to create impactful music blending pop and worship as heard in their two new Christmas singles: "This Christmas" and "JOY." "JOY" is a fresh spin on the classic carol "Joy To The World." The upbeat song has traces of pop influence that come together to give listeners a joyful song to dance with this Christmas.
Billy Ballenger - "All Year"
Since 2018, independent artist Billy Ballenger has kept busy releasing music and doing ministry. In 2020, Billy joined the Winter Jam Tour and has since released several singles and an EP. His first Christmas song, "All Year," is an upbeat anthem that reminds us that the joy, love, peace, and gift of Jesus are the true reason we can celebrate. The song's lyrical message and festive sound are an uplifting addition to any Christmas playlist.
