CLINE is an incredible band that prioritizes faith, family, and music. Their history as country musicians shaped their sound; now, their songs' lyrics reflect their walk with the Lord. They released their first Christian contemporary single two years ago, and I'll dive into their most recent melody, "Worthy One," on which they collaborated with gospel artist Mo Pitney.
Our other featured band this week is The Young Escape. I adore this group for many reasons, most notably their heart-wrenching song, "Count on Me." "Love Me Like You" is another hit they dropped near the beginning of their musical journey. Hailing from Southern California, they bring a refreshing sound to the Christian music industry. They have funneled their passion for God into their latest song, "Worship You There."
"Worthy One" by CLINE feat. Mo Pitney
"Begotten of the Father
Eternal word made flesh
You walked among the sinners
And conquered sin and death
Crushed and pierced to give us life"
The details CLINE uses to accentuate the song's lyrics stood out to me. They, and Mo Pitney, do an incredible job communicating the journey of Jesus as He walked with God's fallen children. This experience allows our Savior to relate to us in our pain and comfort us with empathy. I don't speak an empty truth when I assure you that He is with you. He knows how you feel and is desperate for you to discover the more profound victory He won for you. He's the embrace in our sorrow, but the path forward and the companion next to us as we take each step. The "worthy one" is with you, and He understands.
"Worship You There" by The Young Escape
"By the rivers where I'm resting as healing waters flow
In the desert where I'm dying 'cause I feel so alone
You're still God, You'll lead me on (Lead me on)
Through victories and despair
It doesn't matter where You take me
I will worship You there"
The authenticity of The Young Escape is reflected in their music and makes listeners feel understood. "My heart gets distracted, pulled a million ways/The constant in my chaos is You will never change." I'm sure all of us can relate to these poignant words. We must work on our devotion to Jesus and our commitments to the world. I pray that the balance will get more manageable, and I believe God can lighten the load. Nevertheless, we must learn to praise Him even under the weight of life. How else will we shift our focus to Him so He can ease the burden?
I want to restate that God is with you, and He's not leaving you. Learn to worship Him anywhere He takes you.
