Gateway Worship represents Gateway Church, one of North America's largest churches. I have enjoyed watching their growth in recent years and their collaboration with Leeland on the single "Abba." The song appears on their new album, Completely Abandoned, and its accompanying melodies are as powerful.
God has said, "Let it go." to me since the clock struck midnight on the new year. That being said, I was, of course, drawn to the album's title. Laying it all at the foot of the cross is the most rewarding thing I've ever chosen to do. It's an action I was born to do. God wants my heart so that I will set down everything else in favor of His presence; It was an honor to witness how the Gateway team conveyed the powerful message that God desires our hearts above all else, leading us to set down everything in favor of His presence.
"Here In Your House"
"There's a sound that spans generations
It's the same no matter the language
Oh, what a sound
As we unite to praise the Lord, hey."
Gateway Worship does a fantastic job describing the church as not just a building but a united group of people. A community that's separate from language barriers or cultural obstacles. Jesus brings us together because we share the same love.
I pray for an open mind in your local church, as well as mine, but also in the global church. May we open our eyes to see neighbors as brothers and sisters in Christ? Lord, replace the prejudice with a renewed heart set on You. Only with You as our focus will we come together indeed; please send a wave of this unity through Your church now.
"Abba"
"You're the source of my life You're the One I come from You are the reason I sing And the breath of my song is You"
The most powerful lyrics in this melody are "My song is Abba/I'm Yours forever." It prompted me to contemplate what my song is. By song, I don't mean a literal melody, but the message I'm acting out daily. Am I walking to the world's tune or living out His grace?
If we truly believe our life comes from the Lord, and I'll be the first to say that I do, why would we redirect our praise elsewhere? I understand the temptation of enticing modern efforts to steal our attention. I've realized that peace is cultivated if I remain focused on Jesus and act out His will. That peace resides not only in my mind but also transcends into the behavior of others within my home and around me. To think all of this comes from God is remarkable but not unbelievable. For this origin of my own being, I lift my song again and praise Abba.
