Emerging contemporary artist Micah Tyler broke into the Christian music world with a story of obedience. Previously a sausage delivery truck driver, he knew the Lord was calling him to serve full-time in music. His single, "Never Been a Moment," from his 2016 EP, Different, made huge waves in the industry. Beyond a professional view, Micah knows how to relate to his audience, and his words resonate uniquely. Singing on real-life experiences, he lives with open hands, ready to accept the talent God has given and offers it as praise. In the process, he invites others to sing along with him. This is the beautiful experience I entered when I listened to his newest record, People Like Us.
"I See Grace"
"Now I see grace
Hallelujah, I stand amazed
I'm staring at an empty grave
And the stone that You rolled away"
"I See Grace" drew me in from its catchy opening tune, and my interest grew stronger as the melody progressed. Everything from the incredible lyrics, "When I left the 99/You saw the one," to its vocal inflections. That's not even to mention the dance-worthy and clap-along beat. I absolutely can't wait to see this played live someday. I'll jump and sing with the utmost energy and adoration for this song.
I pray you'll visualize God's grace more deeply as you listen to this melody. He truly is right where you are, and He never leaves. It's incredible that no matter how far I run, He never fails to extend His loving hand. He's doing the same for you, too, as you are one of His children. He loves you.
"Praise The Lord"
"I've tasted, and I've seen
You've been so good to me
Got a melody inside my heart, oh
Here's a sweet, sweet sound."
Micah Tyler presents the truth digestibly and can do this without filtering it. Such transparency is something I admire deeply, as preachers and musicians alike can sometimes get sucked into the people-pleasing pit. Micah does not even venture near this fault and shares his view of the Lord without fear. It is clear he has had his love for the Heavenly Father affirmed by real-life experiences. He sings, "I'm surrounded by a million mercies/I can feel them now." No doubt about it, Micah believes deeply in a living testimony. Not only has God worked in his life in the past, but He also continues to transform his perspective even now. That openness to change by the Lord is a characteristic we can all learn from. Let's praise the Lord in unison today.
