Contemporary Christian band, We The Kingdom, has taken over the music scene in the past few years. Their gentle flow between genres is bound to draw the listener in as they cater to many different stylistic tastes. This diversity in sound most likely stems from their multigenerational mix of members.
We The Kingdom is comprised of Franni Rae Cash Cain, Ed Cash, Scott Cash, Martin Cash, and Andrew Bergthold. Many of the bandmates are related and the ones that aren't make sure to emphasize that they are still bound together by faith. Some of their hit songs include "God So Loved," "Holy Water," and "Child of Love." I'll dive into one song off their newest project, Jesus Does EP, in addition to another popular track.
Jesus Does
Who sings a song of sweet forgiveness?
Who stole the keys to hell and the grave?
Who has the power to save?
Jesus does, yes, He does
It was nearly impossible to choose from all the different "Jesus Does" recordings when deciding which one to feature in this article. Each one is unique and somehow adds an additional element of liveliness to the already joyful melody. In the end, I decided to focus on the Live at The Ryman version. I watched several videos of this concert and it was an incredible experience. However, I encourage you to explore this entire EP and discover the aspects that make each rendering distinct.
For such a simple message that preachers have no doubt mentioned before, hearing it in this song felt like hearing it for the first time. By that message, I mean that Jesus is our freedom, and worthy of our praise. As the members lifted their voices to meet each note, it felt like witnessing a symphony directed purely to please God. Knowing the incredible heart of the band, I have no doubt this was their intention. It was my honor to be a part of this worshipful moment. I pray that as you listen, you will also take part in the chorus and hear the truth of His love for us in a fresh way. Jesus understands, I promise, He does. If you give Him a moment to shine through this melody today, I have no doubt He will.
God Is On The Throne
He's the King of power, King of kings
He is the Lord over everything
To Him be the glory, the honor and praise
Forever and ever, amen always
Franni Rae, one of the lead vocalists, accentuates every song she is in with her beautiful voice, and "God Is On The Throne" is no different. As a personal declaration of faith, it is actually quite relatable. I am forever grateful to this band for sharing their story and to Jesus for placing them on a platform they have used to shine light onto Him.
The simple message of this song is that our God is good. This fact is so true and it really doesn't get any better. In every situation, He is good and in every season, He is kind. Even more than that, He is King. Life will inevitably present worries we feel tempted to take part in, and Christianity is no guarantee for a smooth road to heaven. However, it is a guarantee that no matter what happens, God remains superior, for He is always on the throne, even when we are in the depths of the world. He pulls us out and points us toward heaven once again. "Hallelujah, He reigns!"
