Consumed By Fire is a modern band comprising three brothers named Caleb, Josh, and Jordan Ward. They were raised as the children of a pastor and could travel frequently during their upbringing, which exposed them to diverse cultures and music.
The band's lyrics for their recent EP, First Things First, were inspired by personal experiences that led them to cast aside their fears and plans and instead follow God's path. The stirring music and hopeful message found in the captivating single "First Things First" mesh seamlessly.
If you're a fan of rock, pop, a hint of Americana, and a bit of country, you'll love this band's catchy and accessible sound. Keep an eye out for Consumed By Fire if you appreciate the southern rock style of NEEDTOBREATHE and Rhett Walker Band, as they're a band worth following in 2023. I spoke with Jordan about the band’s song, “It’s A Yes.”
Please tell me the personal story behind this song.
We wrote “It’s a Yes” with songwriters Don Koch and Shane Stevens. The song reminds us, “If it’s a yes in heaven/It’s a yes on earth/I’ll never second guess/I’ll take You at Your word.” The heart behind the song is attested throughout, leaving listeners with a powerful message of encouragement to trust in God’s will. We're so fired up for this collection of songs we’ve released. We're just praying and believing that people will be filled with hope and that their faith will be stirred as they sing these songs over themselves and their families.
Which Bible verses connect to the message of the song?
2 Corinthians 1:20(ESV): “For all the promises of God find their Yes in Him. That is why it is through Him that we utter our Amen to God for His glory.”
Matthew 6:32-34(VOICE): Outsiders make themselves frantic over such questions; they don't realize that your heavenly Father knows exactly what you need. Seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness first, and then all these things will be given to you, too. So do not worry about tomorrow. Let tomorrow worry about itself. Living faithfully is an enormous enough task for today.
Philippians 4:11(VOICE): I am not saying this because I am in need. I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances.
1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV): “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
Psalm 55:22 (NIV): “Cast your cares on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV): "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."
Romans 8:28(VOICE): “We are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan.”
1 Corinthians 13:12(NKJV): "For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known."
What is the takeaway message?
We’re so pumped for the release of "It’s A Yes." Our goal with this song is to provide a sense of reassurance to our listeners, helping them strengthen their faith and understand that God hears their prayers during their prayer time. God answers with a resounding yes if their prayers align with His Word.
This new music is our chance to carry on our father’s legacy. We can take the things he taught us from scripture and everyday life and share them with others through our music and shows. This is our opportunity to carry that torch for him.

Closing Thoughts
You'll raise your heart and hands in worship with this great new song. The song’s powerful lyrics convict me, and I find great comfort in its biblical truth. In them, I hear a sincere yearning for the Lord. Find that yearning for Him, and worship loudly about His love. His grace takes away anxiety, guilt, and shame. Know that being His is enough.
Abraham was called a "friend of God." Abraham decided to let his nephew Lot decide which way to go, but instead of choosing by faith, Lot chose based on sight. Abraham then decided to walk by faith, not by sight. God gave him credit for his obedience. Righteousness comes from faith in the unseen, such as Abraham displayed in the Bible. Being a Christian means that we walk by faith, not by sight. Faith requires people to rely on the unseen.
Every day, we rely on faith to guide us. The benefit of walking by faith rather than sight is that it teaches us to trust God more deeply in our lives. According to the Bible, we can accomplish anything through Christ by having faith.
The Bible teaches us that we can accomplish anything through Christ by having faith. This truth can serve as a daily reminder not to be afraid. I've learned that before taking a step of faith, we must address any personal issues. Look for ways to obey God and offer your trust in Him.
We all need our great God to fix our messes and turn them into spiritual messages. And the beauty of grace is that it is not something we deserve or can earn, but it is a gift from God. So many people can relate to the song's message. A comforting message that there is always hope.
Reading the Bible strengthens me with the truth that the evil in this world is not God's plan for my life. So, trust His Word. Jesus commands us to trust His Word completely, no matter the circumstances.
You'll be blessed by this powerful song with a convicting declaration: “If it’s Your word/It’s Your will/I believe what You’ve said/All of Your promises I believe it’s a yes/If it’s Your word It’s Your will/I believe what You’ve said/All of Your promises I believe it’s a yes/I believe it's a yes I believe it's a yes.” Amen to that.
